Tuscan Lakes subdivision in League City, Texas features marvelous Tuscany countryside-inspired landscaping and piazza architecture for the common buildings. Aqueduct ruins greet you at the main entrance, very convieniently located off League City Parkway (FM 96). The shorter section of aqueduct is shown in top photo.
Lower photo shows the Recreation Center. Cypress trees vertically punctuate the sky and are consistently planted throughout the subdivision. Master planned indeed, I have been informed by a source at the HOA that the developer does not allow Queen Palms here (but please doublecheck this if it is a concern to you) in keeping with the European theme of this neighborhood.
Currently there are 9 sections, and builder new construction prices range from starting in the $160s to the $890s, some are waterfront. In addition, The Village at Tuscan Lakes is a 55+ active adult gated community, with a separate entrance. Ravello and Sorrento are the two apartment home sections located here. A lovely place to live!
There is a new national radio program of interest to all of us . . . owners, buyers, sellers, realtors, investors. It's called Real Estate Today, The Voice for Real Estate. Format is facts, definitions and information presented in a brief segment, presented by experts, interviews, call-ins and in-the-field reports. You can listen to the program in real time via Satellite radio, or on your computer anytime. Subscribe by iTunes, Podcast or eNews. The host, Gil Gross, is easy to listen to and I find him personable. Log on to retradio.com for more information, including current and archived shows, upcoming topics, additional info on show topics, blog - you can participate too, and more facts, figures and showtimes/channels. One of my favorite photos, I admit it is a repost. Victory Lakes subdivision defines itself as well above ordinary with lovely landscaping and extensive walking/biking/jogging trails along the man-made lakes. There is a swimming pool, kiddie pool, tennis courts and playground. Feed the ducks who parade around the lakes! Multiple bunko groups and friendly neighbors. There are currently 6 sections and a selection of builders. Sounds great? Yep.
Here are two ongoing FREE music events to enjoy in League City. This is good hometown fun whether you have shrinking entertainment dollars or not.
BABA, aka Bay Area BLUEGRASS Association presents a FREE Monthly show and jam session on the third Saturday of every month (except December). You may attend at the Johnny Arolfo Civic Center, 300 W. Walker, League City,TX. Jam sessions (if you just happen to be a bluegrass picker) start at 5 pm. The STAGE SHOW starts at 7:00 pm starring local and guest bands. Whether you typically listen to bluegrass or not, this feel-good music will have your toe a-tappin' in no time. Rows of folding chairs face the stage, although some music-lovers bring their own folding camp chairs to set up themselves. There is food available to purchase, raffles of assorted items and of course donations are welcome. This is a very well-organized regular event that draws people from all over the gulf coast and beyond. March 21st is the next show. If you are feeling blue your attitude will flip-flop to sunny yellow after a little time spent enjoying the show.
The CONCERT in the PARK series happens on Saturday evenings starting at 7:00 pm in the summer, and is hosted by League City Parks and Recreation Department. FREE concerts and movies start at the end of May and run through early September in League City Park. Okay, it's a little early and perhaps a little too cold to think about attending an outdoor concert, but not too early to consider attending a show or more this year. Check your calendar now! At 7:00 pm the blast-furnace summer temperatures have come down enough to be outside and enjoy yourself. The park sign on 518/Main Street posts the weekly performers, and the music styles are varied. Some permanent benches are in place to relax on, but I recommend bringing portable seating of your own. Drinks and snacks are sold, and of course you are welcome to bring your own picnic snack. Nevermind the occasional ant. This is a family-friendly venue, 4-legged family members seem to be welcome too, but better check with the city on that detail.
