The Dalai Lama Is In Seattle This Weekend.

This weekend the Dalai Lama is in Seattle for 5 day Seeds of Compassion Gathering.Dalai Lama

Each of the five days will provide parents, educators, business and community leaders with an opportunity to better understand the real benefits of compassion, and concrete steps on how to bring compassion into their lives.

On Friday at Key Arena in the Seattle The Dalai Lama will be joined by Dave Matthews in a concert for compassion.

Many of the events are free and the resource fair at Qwest Field is an event that should not be missed!

This is the first time since the recent trouble in Tibet that the Dalai Lama has left the country. His visit to Seattle has been much talked about and is highly anticipated.

Starbucks Coffee Introduces New Coffee Blend. Real Estate Agents Everywhere Rejoyce!

Tuesday April 8th 2007 Starbucks Coffee Introduced Pike Place Blend. This will be the new coffee served at every location in The United States. Starbucks will be rolling it out to Canadian stores in the near future.

I stopped by and tried the coffee yesterday. I was impressed. I enjoy coffee a great deal. I do not go to Starbucks too much as I can find many other coffee shops to spend my time at. (they make great offices for real estate agents) Pike Place Blend will make it much easier for me to go to Starbucks on a regular basis.

Pike Place Blend is a well rounded coffee. Starbucks will not say what specific varieties are used to make the blend. I noticed that it reminded me of the big bold blends that I used to drink daily when I worked for Starbucks. I think that this will be a welcome addition to the company.

Starbucks will be brewing Pike Place Blend daily and it will always be fresh. If the coffee has not been sold within 30 minutes they will dump it out and brew a new batch. Once the Clover machines are installed I will be sure to check back and see how it tastes when it is brewed through the latest in high tech coffee makers.

Having Pike Place Blend in every store on a daily basis will allow Starbucks to present a more consistent experience for their customers. One of the advantages that Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds had was that they served the same coffee at each location. This allowed customers to the same experience at every location. Starbucks offered a coffee of the day from a rotating variety of coffees. Since there is such a wide range of flavors in coffee one could have a different experience each time and not necessarily have a good time.

What coffees do you like? In the puget sound we have so many choices of coffee shops with a wide variety of coffees to choose from. When I travel around the country I try to go to as many local coffee shops as possible. I am going to Phoenix in May does anyone have any recommendations?

Spotlight on Local Farmers Markets in Puget Sound

Farmers Market Log

The Puget Sound region has fantastic farmers markets. I cannot think of a better way to buy my fruits and vegetables than directly from the person who actually had a hand in producing them. Since spring is now here the areas farmers markets are starting up again. I am going to put together a series of posts about the various markets and the communities that host them.

Without further introduction allow me to share with you the Gig Harbor Farmers Market.

The Gig Harbor Farmers Market started today and will run every Saturday through September 27th.

Gig Harbor Farmers Market

Located at the Kimball Drive Park and Ride running from 8:30 to 2:00

Driving directions from Tacoma Take the Narrows Bridge on Highway 16. Take the Wollochet Drive exit. Right at the first light. Take the next right on Kimball Drive. You will see the signs and the market will be on your right.

Gig Harbor is just across the Narrows Bridge from Tacoma yet it seems worlds away. Once a small fishing village Gig Harbor has grown in recent years as more and more people find that they want the quiet and slower paced lifestyle yet want to be by the “big city”

The Gig Harbor Farmers Market has over 100 vendors offering fresh flowers, produce, wood crafts, food, jewelry and other handcrafted items. There are activities to keep the kids busy. Hot food to help keep you warm during our crisp spring days.

Downtown Market at Skansie Park is held every Wednesday June through August from 11am to 4pm So when we are in the peak of the produce season you will have two opportunities to come and support local vendors in Gig Harbor.

If you would like more information directly from the Gig Harbor Farmers Market they have a website that provides a list of entertainers and other information.

I hope to see you out at our local farmers markets this year!

Best,

Scott

Crack of the Bat, The Smell of the Grass, It's That Time of Year Again!

Living in Tacoma is great! This time of year our weather starts to turn towards being warmer (ok not that warm) It's light out later.....(ok not that late) and it is time for Baseball! Cheney Stadium

The Tacoma Rainiers Season Opener is TONIGHT at Cheney Stadium! I know it will be cold there tonight but it will be a great time. Minor League Baseball is one of the things that makes living in a smaller community great! Getting to know the players. Being able to sit right next to the field without taking out a mortgage. Seeing the kids all smiles and jumping up and down when the team comes on the field. These are all fantastic things that we get to experience at a Rainiers Game.

I know I will not be able to attend as many games as I would like this season. However, every game I do attend will be a special event! I try to take clients who like baseball to games. I find it amazing how many people who live in Tacoma have never been to a ballgame here. Tacoma has been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1960! Before that Tacoma had been a minor league town since the late 19th. Century! That's right over 100 years of minor league ball have been played in Tacoma. If you want to learn more about baseball in Tacoma a website of mine that I do not do much with has a fair amount of history of Tacoma baseball on it. Please visit and learn more about our rich baseball history. Just remember I dont update it often (as in the past 2 years or more) Perhaps if enough people visit it again I will be inspired to continue with my updates there.

If you're a fan of baseball you need to visit Tacoma and go to Cheney Stadium and see a game this year. Give me a call and I will meet you at the park!
