With the holiday season behind us and winter days ahead, we all search for ways to pass the time and feed our minds. Coastal Carolina University offers us great options with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The University, more than twenty years ago realized the need for continuing adult education and recently received a $100,000 grant from the San Francisco based philanthropic organization, Bernard Osher Foundation. This grant is presented to 114 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLI) on colleges and campuses in 48 states, and Coastal Carolina University has nicknamed the program "OLLI at Coastal".
One of the appeals of our area is our growing cultural calendar and influence. Coastal Carolina University has taken advantage of this by hiring renowned instructors and offering courses in five area centers. This brings the courses to all our residents and offers a selection that covers all interests.
