McCUTCHEON HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL in Lafayette, Indiana: will they repeat history?

Twenty years ago today the McCutcheon girls basketball team came from behind to defeat #2 ranked and undefeated GARY WEST in the morning semi-state basketball tourney game at Lafayette Jefferson before a crowd of over 4,500 people.

Today, the McCutcheon High School Lady Mavericks, who are coached by Jeff Knoy, take a 25-1 record and #4 ranking into this FINAL FOUR game for the IHSAA girls basketball tournament against #3 ranked Penn from the Mishawaka area. Penn has a 22-1 record. The winner advances to the 4A state championship next week at Fort Wayne.

Game time is 6 P.M. at the Warsaw High School gym in northern Indiana!

GOOD LUCK LADY MAVERICKS and lets hope history repeats itself against a highly ranked team(but don't fall behind 10-0 at the start of the game!!!)

REFLECTIONS FROM A CREEK THAT MADE A PRESIDENT: The Battle of Tippecanoe

Burnett's Creek (looking south)

THE BATTLE OF TIPPECANOE: NOVEMBER 7, 1811

  • As a creek goes Burnett's Creek is small, routine- even ordinary.

  • Yet during the first week of November, 200 years ago the crossing of this creek would lead to war between Britain and the United States.

  • Native American forces led by The Prophet(Tenskwatawa) launched a surprise attack upon the encamped armed forces of the U.S. government led by General William Henry Harrison.

  • Harrison would use the fame from The Battle of Tippecanoe to help him win The White House in the Presidential Election of 1840.
