I Grew Up In A Ghost Town
Do you ever see pictures of those deserted towns or drive through one on your way somewhere important and think to yourself:
"I wonder who lived here?"

"I wonder what it was like.....did they have dreams for themselves?"

Well I do know who lived there...... I did. Here is my home.
Kind of weird to say those words, "I Grew Up In a Ghost Town" but I did.
Oh of course when I lived there it wasn't a ghost town, it had a bar (my best friend Nancy's Dad owned the bar):
It had a post office:
It had a town hall where I danced standing on my Dad's feet and holding onto his belt loops:
It had a two room school house (no longer standing) that closed after I finished second grade so there was no longer a school in town.
It had a grocery store run by Elmer and Francis and they lived above the store.
We lived right next to them on Main Street.
Do you want to know what it was like?

It was normal.
Well....I didn't know any different so I thought it was normal.
I thought going to the outhouse during recess was normal.
I thought going to the pump in the center of town to pump water for cooking and drinking was normal.
Didn't everyone do that? I did.....many times a day.
I thought playing on the railroad tracks and in the dirt were normal.
So, "Who lived here?" I did..... "What was it like?".......it was normal, it was all I knew.

The next time you drive through or see pictures of a Ghost Town think of me. Some of the ghosts are still alive.

Would You Rather Sell a Beige Home or a Purple and Orange Home?
Staging a Home Minneapolis, MN
That sounds like a trick question doesn't it? Home Staging is all about appealing to the masses so everyone can love the home. If the buyer likes traditional they can love the home; if they like modern they can love the home.
Home Stagers around the globe stress neutral, neutral, neutral. But really?? Does neutral mean Boring? Beige?
It Depends......Ha, hate that answer!
Pictures speak a thousand words. Keep in mind buyers only have 'pictures' when they walk into a home which are the actual rooms in front of them. They aren't reading the listing details at that time.
Let's take a beautiful brand new model home. Walls and carpet color - Perfect. Neutral so no one has to walk in and think about changing them.

The reason this is perfect is because you find Beige for the big ticket items that are difficult to change or that would involve a lot of time or money to change.
Beige paint is great....keeping in mind all beige colors are not created equal!!! Some are boring, some are pinkish, worse yet some are fleshy colored....yikes!
Beige carpet is perfect but again keeping in mind 'off white' is a form of beige but isn't the color buyers want to see today.
But will this wow them into signing a purchase agreement?
Let's talk about the emotional pieces of the home. The pieces that draws a buyer in; making them say "Aaahhh.....I want to live here".
Should those pieces be boring.....beige?
Maybe this will help the beige:
Yes.....who would think that purple and orange may help to sell a home. But it will!
The color should be in the little things, in the things that make it a home.
Let's not forget: BUYING A HOME IS AN EMOTIONAL EVENT.
This home can still be traditional if the buyer chooses. It can be hip and modern if they choose. A traditional sofa mixed with hip Purple Argyle Chairs is the perfect balance.
If purple chairs aren't enough....how about orange accents in the artwork and the pillows.
Followed by orange and purple artwork in the dining room and dinnerware. And of course more fun chairs.
Follow that color scheme in the Master Bedroom. A very traditional bedroom set mixed with modern black and white linens and purple accents.
Impact. Drama. That's what you want to make your home standout from the others.
So would you Rather Sell a Beige Home or a Purple and Orange Home?
The answer........ a combination of both!
A Professional Home Stager can create the scene your buyers want to see when they walk in. They want neutral but they want to be WOWED! Give them Wow!

I am Now a DCC!! And of Course I Had to Reward Myself!
Yes....I just completed my training and received my DCC certification.
No, not Doctor of Chiropractic, that is a DC.
This is much better! Dewey Color Consultant!! How Fun Is That!
Yes, I went throught the two day class to learn now to put together 25,000 color combinations and make no mistakes. I learned so much. "We Make Color Easy"!

Undertones. Blends. Neutral blends. Split Compliments. Triadic Color Schemes. Achromatic Color Schemes.
What if my client wants a triadic color scheme with a neutral blend? Is that okay??
Now I know! Most importantly my client is never going to know these terms and they don't have to. But I can help them decide what colors they love and how to put them together.

Better yet, if the husband and wife have totally opposite tastes in color I now know how to find some common ground. I now have the tools to do so.
OH...AND OF COURSE I HAD TO REWARD MYSELF.
If you have seen any of my posts I like to do that.
What better way than with a new bag. AND WHAT A BAG!!
It holds my 'Color Coordinator' and 'Embrace Hue You Are' Books perfectly plus my note pad.
Can't you just see me showing up at a client's door with this bag? Isn't it fun? Oh...and what color scheme is it?? LOL
Are you looking for assistance with color in your home but are afraid of color? Don't know where to start or what colors to put together?
As a Certified Dewey Color Consultant Shar Sitter from Rooms With Style can give you the confidence to pick the right paint and fabric colors for one room or multiple rooms.
