Make The Most of NYC Restraunt Week 2009

Calling all Foodies - Calling all Foodies!  It is that time of year again in the Big Apple: the infamous New York Restraunt Week.  A time to have a meal that you would normally drop $150 on - but pay a bill rivaling your the price of parking for the evening.

Restraunt Week started back in 1992 - and was supposed to be a one-time event to welcome the Democratic National Convention to the city.  It gave New York City diners the chance to have a three course elegant meal at some of New York's finest restraunts for a mere $19.92.  Obviously NYC residents lobbied to make this an annual event - and viola!  Restruant week is now a
THREE WEEK event and offers 3 course prix-fixe meals for lunch at $24.07 and dinner for $35.  Though this has been a 'during the week' event in the past, this year - for the first time ever - most restraunts will offer these prix-fixes on Sundays as well!

NYC Restraunt Week is one of New Yorks most anticipated events - mainly because more than 250 restraunts now participate.  They include the tried and true as well as the up and comming and give you a full range of cuisines to choose from. Just to name a few are: Megu, Spice Market, Dos Caminos, Nobu, Tao, and Blue Water Grill.

Restruant Week lasts from July 12-31st and all of the participating restruants are now taking reservations - so don't forget to book ahead.  To see a full list of the restruants participating, some of the menu options or to make your reservations - click below!

Superchunk's importance has been eclipsed by that of Merge, the label launched by two of its members to put out records by the band, later the home of Neutral Milk Hotel, Magnetic Fields, Arcade Fire, etc.... But Superchunk itself remains a beloved indie act, and has returned after a lull with an EP and some shows. Opening is Versus, a New York trio that made big waves in '90s indie rock and has just returned to performing after being split up for much of the past decade.
