February year over year stats are very similar to last year, except the list prices have come down considerably overall. This is clearly a factor of the continued slow down in market activity, and Hackensack has been hit worse than almost every surrounding town with increasing inventory.

As of today 3/19/209 at 7pm, there are 319 homes for sale in Hackensack.
Their prices range from condos and co-ops in the $100K range, to Single family homes ranging from $99,000 to $1,150,000 - the median LIST price is $349,000.

Of these, 82 are single family homes, and 36 are 2-Family homes. 201 are Condo/Townhomes or co-ops listed on the NJMLS.

Hackensack offers good accessibility to New York City via many major highways or public transportation including its in-town train station.

Clearly there is a huge over-inventory currently in Hackensack, and subsequently, the listings have become extremely competitive in pricing nature.

Even with the downturn in sales across the country, Paramus has held pretty steady, selling almost the same number of homes in '09 as it did in '08. The more significant difference is in the list and sales prices, which have dropped significantly.

As of today 3/18/09 at 9pm, there are 124 residential homes for sale in Paramus.
Their prices range from $256,000 (co-op) to $2,900,000, and the median LIST price is $649,000.

Paramus offers a terrific opportunity to live in a Bergen County town with traditionally low taxes - this is largely due to the high volume of commerce that Paramus provides. The private neighborhoods make living enjoyable, while still having the accessibility to New York City via many major highways or public transportation with buses or nearby trains. Paramus is also the home of "Van Saun Park" - a fabulous park with a Zoo, a Kids Train Ride, a Carousel, pony rides, swing parks, tennis courts and picnic areas ! -- Truly a great place to take the family !

Grand Opening of the New Paramus, NJ Target Store was TODAY !

... and it was PACKED !

After many months of creation and preparation, the highly anticipated Grand Opening of the new 'Super Target' got off to a booming start today !

... and there was no sign of a lacking economy if the shoppers there had any say in it !

This Target Store is part of the newly renovated Bergen Town Center mall in Paramus, NJ, which will see many great stores including the likes of

  • The Nike Factory Store
  • Century 21 Department Store
  • Marshalls
  • Filenes Basement
  • Nordstrom Rack
  • Chuck E Cheese's
  • Whole Foods
  • and others

... and yes, the Super Target !

So in support of this terrific event, we took a 'family trip' there ourselves !!!

... but we went during the special "Sneak Preview" Last night !!!! Ha !!! Before the crazy rush today ! ... and yes I was back there today just to check out the doorbusters, and it was a madhouse !

In front of the Target Bergen Town Center

The first thing we noticed was the shopping carts were different to any store we'd seen before - they were entirely plastic - no metal at all. For shopping carts ? - They were lightweight, easy to maneuver, and pretty cool !

(my wife looks pretty good for 8 months pregnant right !!!!!!)

Then as we got into the store we saw that it was HUGE !!!

...and actually had more aisles than the next nearest Target, including more food aisles like this refrigerator cold cuts section !!!

The layout was great, the staff were trained well, and were very pleasant and accommodating.

We did our part to stimulate the economy by buying a lot of essential items as you can see here ...

...and after getting well acquainted with the whole store, we saw the cherry on the top !

... this Target has a STARBUCKS INSIDE !!!!!!!!

"A Target Store AND a Starbucks in ONE PLACE !!!!!! You're Kidding !!!!!"

No people it's true !!! And this has now become my favorite place in the neighborhood !!!

Next week, the review of the Grand Opening of
Bergen Town Center's "WHOLE FOODS Store !!!"

Cheerio !

Bergen Town Center - Construction Progress - 'TARGET' OPENS THIS SATURDAY !

I drive by the progress being made preparing the newly reconstructed mall 5 minutes from my house - the 'Bergen Town Center' - every day, and this week I was excited to see the updates !

First - The 'Nike Factory Store' sign went up, as is the sign for one of my absolute favorite food stores 'Whole Foods' !

And Second --- and most exciting of all TARGET MADE SOME REAL PROGRESS !

They added these 'Big Red Balls' out in front of the store - and lined up the shopping carts !!!

And the real exciting part was to see this sign on the front doors ....

Target Bergen Town Center Opens March 9th 2009

MARCH 7TH CIRCLED ON MY CALENDAR !!! Any of you Target Fans in Bergen County, come on by on Saturday ...

.... you better believe I'll be in line when the doors open !!!!!
