Bill Moore's Hot Trails Scented Hunting Candles
Whenever I can get him, Bill Moore has been my home inspector of choice ever since I have been in real estate here in San Antonio.*
Bill is a 6th generation "Texian", just like me, and considers himself to be "very lucky to have been raised just north of the best trophy deer huning in the country, the South Texas Brush Country." He started hunting at the age of 10, starting with small game and in the 8th grade took his first deer, "only a spike", but a real tropy to an 8th grader. He has been an avid hunter ever since and today he game manages 12,000 acres, the Loma Blanca Ranch.
Bill is also the owner, creator, and inventor of HOT TRAILS. One of the products is a scented wax candle infused with a deer attractant. The odor stays strong even after the candle is no longer burning. HOT TRAILS is now in its' 8th year of production and is sold in over 600 stores in 39 states and in Canada.
Bill says "HOT TRAILS WORKS AND WILL HELP YOU GET YOUR TROPHY!!!"

John the Greek restaurant is one of those places we have been meaning to try for some time now. Tonight, on the spur of the moment, we did so. We didn't have our camera with us so I don't have any photos to share.
We met John, the owner, who was very hospitable and came by our table to chat for a while. We told him the restaurant came highly recommended by our son-in-law. John told us that his family (the Velentzas family) originally came from Greece and opened their first restaurant on Harry Wurzbach near Ft. Sam Houston. Ten years ago they moved the restaurant to the present location.
The menu was extensive with many dishes that we were unfamiliar with so I went with something I have had before, a gyro and Greek salad. My husband had a gyro and fries. We had hummus with pita points for an appetizer. Everything was really good and my husband raved about the fries. Next time we will be a little more adventurous and try something we have never had before; that leaves lots to choose from. They had lots of yummy dessert choices and we chose baklava to bring home with us.
The restaurant is located at 16602 San Pedro in Park Oak Center at 281 and Thousand Oaks near Sherlock's pub. Friday and Saturdays nights feature belly dancing and singing.
I highly recommend John the Greek!
Are you looking for a simpler way of life? Or just looking for a relaxing vacation getaway? The Texas Hill Country could be the place for you.
Set deep in the heart of Texas, people are attracted to the hill country area because of the lush countryside with its rolling hills and fields of wildflowers. The spirit of "old Texas" lives on with its Mexican influences, softened by the European touch of the Germans who settled here. Enjoy lunch or dinner in a beer garden, taking in the fresh country air, or drive to Luckenbach, made famous by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Visit a lavender farm in Blanco, the many wineries that dot the area, stay at a bed & breakfast. www.hat.org
Plenty of small picturesque towns can be found in the hill country such as Wimberley, Sisterdale, Comfort, Welfare, Waring. Some of the best-loved larger towns are Fredericksburg with a population of 10,873, New Braunfels population 51,804, and San Marcos population 50,373.
The average number of sunny days in the Texas Hill country is 228.
