It is still raining. My roof is still leaking. As if to compensate (or distract) me, nature has sent another emissary to my garden.

The top of this alien measures about eight inches across, and is slightly pointed, like a conical straw hat. And yes, I need to mow my lawn. If it would stop raining long enough, I would!
After the downpour last weekend, bizarre-looking beings materialized. They were gone a couple of days later, back to their mother ship, I guess. I'll keep an eye on this one and see if I can spot its departure.

My roof is leaking, and more rain is on the way to the Cibolo - Schertz area
I found a link to the MLS from a couple of years ago, when I posted my first blog about bad MLS photos and agents' descriptions of their listings. This listing went to another agent after 331 days on the market.
In those days, before the local board changed the MLS system for the third time since I became a member, the links lasted a month. Now they last maybe two weeks. Since I didn't want anyone to miss this opportunity to see the photos from this listing, I grabbed the photos and made a Real Estate Show out of them.
Enjoy!

Why do women make less money selling homes than men do?

This gulf fritillary landed on a plumeria leaf in our garden and slowly spread its wings to bask. There wasn't much sunshine yet, but you have to start somewhere!
These butterflies are fairly common in this area of South Texas. Because we are organic gardeners and love butterflies and flowers, we planted passionflowers and let the vines sprout and grow wherever they want. Gulf fritillaries lay their eggs on the passion vines and their caterpillars feed on them. The adult butterflies are quite partial to the nectar of buddleia flowers.

Texas weather: when it rains, it pours
Celebrating with drinks on the River Walk, San Antonio, Texas
After the huge thunderstorm early Sunday morning, I went for a walk in our garden to assess the damage. Surprisingly, there didn't seem to be much, except water had washed quite a bit of mulch downhill, leaving large areas of just mud. They will be ripe for weeds to spring up, so I'll need to haul in some more mulch soon.
Meanwhile, here are a couple of new arrivals:

I don't know what type they are, but I don't intend to nibble on them, just in case!

Are you dissatisfied with your weight? Well, here are some great tips for you!

It looks so innocuous, doesn't it? Three dribbles coming into the attic from somewhere around the chimney. And yet, after the thunderstorms early this morning, enough rain got through the roof to fill a large saucepan up to 2.5 inches. My husband bravely went up into the attic and took this photo 3 hours after the worst of the storm.
A third roofing contractor is supposed to come by tomorrow and give me an estimate. The first one, who didn't even come to the house, just sent me an estimate for around $750 for what I told him I thought the problem was, the flashing around the chimney. The second one did come by and gave me an estimate of $750, but said he wasn't exactly sure where the leaks were coming from, even after going in the attic, and it might cost up to $950 if he did "exploratory" roofing.
So whichever roofing contractor gets here first with his work crew gets my business. I will drown my sorrows with a cup of tea and go watch the Cowboys play now.
