The Kick Off Party for Relay for Life in Western Sussex County in Delaware will be held January 24th at the Seaford Elks Lodge. The party starts at 6:30 and is open to the community. All are invited to attend.
The kick off party is free to attend and is not a fund raising event. The meeting will be a forum to inform the community and increase participation in the Relay for Life Event. The Relay for Life event will be held the first week in June and will last through the night.
Relay for Life Events are held all around the country to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The first Relay for Life was in 1985 when a doctor in Tacoma, Washington walked around a track for 24 hours to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Beatlemania Now is performing at Harrington Raceway and Casino in Harrington Delaware on Saturday, January 28, 2012.
Show times are 7:00 and 9:30PM. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Gift Shop in the Casino.
The New York Daily Times calls this show, "Extraordinary." The concert captures the mood of the 60s and 70s and features increditble renditions of the Beatles' classics.
Comedian Jeff Foxworthy will be performing at The Harrington Raceway and Casino on May 26, 2012 at 7:30PM. The show was originally scheduled for August 2011 but was cancelled due to inclimate weather.
Tickets went on sale January 18 at www.harringtonraceway.com. Tickets are also available by calling 800-514-3829 or at the gift shop in the casino. Prices are $26, $41, $51 and $76.
The show will coincide with a salute to the USO and Armed Forces with festivities May 25-27. Opening for Jeff Foxworthy is Reno Collier.
The Sunrise Rotary Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is hosting the Ninth Annual NFC and AMC Championship Party on January 22 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. It starts at 2 PM and continues until the last game is over.
The games will be shown on multiple big screen televisions. There will be special memorabilia and merchandise in a silent auction. A variety of tailgate food and beverages will be available. A Kids room will have a Madden Challenge competition, Wii games and children's videos.
Admission is $20 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. Proceeds from the event benefit local, national and international charities supported by the Sunshine Rotary Club. For more information, call 302-841-5331.
A group of women in Milford have formed a group named U Just Ask to help the needy in the area. ASK is an acronym for Actively Supporting with Kindness.
They plan on initiating a winter coat drive, Thanksgiving dinners, school uniforms, and toys at Christmas. They are looking for vounteers to help with these efforts. Activities include delivering items, wrapping gifts, etc.
The first community wide event will be a "Pay It Forward Day" scheduled for September 28. They hope to schedule one each month. A few suggestons are; paying for the coffee or toll for the person behind you in line or baking cookies for a home bound person.
