Special Thank you to Miriam Willis with First South Bank
I am so proud to let you know that Prudential Clear Water's Seller Seminar held on 2-23-2008 in Emerald Golf Club was a great success. I was advertising it on here and on localizam in Sellers Seminar Feb. 23rd at Emerald Golf Club! . We had about 30 guests witch is my personal record for any type of seminar. All the speakers where excellent and lots of good informations got exchanged. Sellers are very motivated and in the market like the one we are experiencing right now they see differences between agents. we have picked up four listings!!! And we have few more in the works. Very great and positive event. And I am looking forward to the next one tentatively planed for 3-29-2008 at New Bern Country Club.

Things to do in New Bern this weekend!

2/22 Tryon Palace History After Dark - Professor Norling' scholarship is located at the intersection between maritime history and women's history. As U.S. history appropriately incorporates international and comparative perspectives, Professor Norling emphasizes recognizing the significance of the sailors and ships that linked America and the rest of the world for centuries. Norling's prize-winning book, Captain Ahab Had a Wife, examines gender dynamics in the American whaling industry from the 18th through the 19th centuries. The book describes the functional independence of maritime men's and women's work and situates this within the ideological interdependence of masculine and feminine gender roles. Professor Norling's findings show how the dramatic growth of the industry and the restructuring of life at sea and onshore both reflected and reinforced evolving concepts about sexual difference, love and marriage. Admission is $4 for Adults and $2 for Students. For more information please contact Tryon Palace Historic Sites & Gardens at (252) 514-4900 or (800) 767-1560 or visit their website at http://www.tryonpalace.org/.

This building, beside the modern Broad Street fire station in New Bern, houses steam pumpers and an extensive collection of other early firefighting equipment along with rare photographs, Civil War relics, and even the mounted head of a faithful old fire horse named Fred, who died in his traces while answering an alarm. Attraction is featuring antique fire engines used in the 1922 fire that destroyed one-third of the city. The Friends organization continues its fund-raising efforts to restore the central fire station, which was built on Broad Street in 1927. The Friends’ effort to restore the station has been going on for several years.

The station housed two rival fire companies. They were the Atlantic Fire and Hook and Ladder Company and the New Bern Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1. Company No. 1 was nicknamed the “Button Company” after it traded one steam fire engine for a new Button steam fire engine.

This whole thing is something that New Bernians can wrap their arms around, the fire station used to be the hub of social life here and it’s not that far removed from us — only a few generations. There are a lot of people here who had a grandfather or great-grandfather who worked at that central station or who knew someone who did. This is a true project for the community. New Bern is second oldest town in North Carolina and this is just one little story from New Bern’s extraordinary history.
An addition planned near the New Bern Firemen’s Museum is being called a visitor center, but those behind the project say it’s better named a preservative.
The Broad Street center will serve as an entrance to, and house bathrooms and an elevator for, the museum. But what it won’t do is just as important.
New Bern Fireman Museum is located at 410 Hancock Street, New Bern, NC 28560. 252-636-4087 and its open daily!
