Give Santa your Christmas list and have your photo taken with him. The Santa House will be open on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 10am-5pm (kick off the season), Friday, December 5, 12 & 19, 2008 from 4pm-8pm, Saturday, November 29 and December 13 & 20, 2008 from 10am-5pm, Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 10am-2pm, Sunday, November 30 and December 7, 14 & 21, 2008 from 12pm-4pm Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23 from 12pm-4pm and Christmas Eve from 10am-2pm. 12/6 Breakfast & Lunch with Santa - Enjoy this community holiday fund-raising event for the Craven Regional Medical Center Foundation. Lunch with Santa will include lunch, crafts and pictures with Santa at 11:30am and 12:30pm. Children tickets are $10 and adults are $10. Mrs. Claus will be available for story time. The palace is illuminated and filled with elegant dancers and fascinating characters. New Bern's colonial townspeople have also turned out to enjoy the festivities. The grand finale of the evening is a spectacular fireworks show on the South Lawn. Come celebrate the holidays with us...colonial style! 12/20 Santa Paws on Parade - A fun and exciting parade of costumed pets parade through Downtown New Bern. Tis season make sure to plan to attend The Tryon Palace Christmas Candlelight Tours

The Tryon Palace Christmas Candlelight Tours have been recognized as one of the Top 20 Holiday Events in the southeastern United States by the Southeast Tourism Society since 2004. This year's festivities offer visitors an opportunity to experience the holiday traditions that make the Tryon Palace holiday celebrations so very special. The 2008 holiday season celebration begins the Friday after Thanksgiving, and runs through the end of December.

Of course, the spectacular nature-inspired decorations that are the hallmarks of the Tryon Palace holiday season will once again beautifully complement each historic building. In addition to the Palace and the site's three historic homes, the Museum Shop and the New Bern Academy Museum will also be decked out for the holidays.

Natural holiday arrangements will be accented using oyster shells, red and green apples, pine cones, juniper berries, lotus pods, tallow berries, peacock feathers, and lots of greenery. The holiday decorations will also feature beautiful dried flowers. Candlelight tours on Saturday, December 13 and December 20 will offer an even greater variety of entertainment both inside and outside the Palace. At 5 p.m. the Fife & Drum Corps leads visitors through the entrance where they will encounter strolling minstrels and costumed characters portraying colonial New Bernians who will gladly recount stories about their lives in the eighteenth century. Crowd pleasing Signora Bella, the Italian equilibrist, is back this year to everyone's delight. Otto the Sword Swallower has also returned to amaze young and not-so-young visitors with his impossible feats and daring.

Is it finally time to get off the fence and buy?

If you have been paying close attention to real estate market in the past two years as most of us have you have witnessed a steady decline, decline and some more decline in prices as well as sales. However you must have noticed last four weeks different trend. Sales are up almost 10% in most of the markets as well as sales prices. That might not seam significant but if you take in to consideration that we are entering holiday season witch is typically our slowest time of a year that number looks amazing. I see this to be result of few things that have happened, sellers are more reasonable with pricing as well as condition of the homes offered for sale, inventory has been somewhat reduced as there isn't much new construction happening any more and last but not least elections are over. If there is that great house offered for sale that you really like do you thing that it will still be there few months from now?
