Everything May Not Always Be OK but Everything Is Going To Be...

egbokWe have a sign posted in our office that states, "Everything Is Going To Be OK!". It was used during training several months ago and the optimist in me wants to believe the message but the realist in me has slightly altered it to read "Everything Is Going To Be."

As I sit and think of the things I have no control over such as war, middle age, aging parents, children growing up and leaving home, cloudy days, increasing taxes, a down economy, REOS, buyers who are fence-sitting...

I also think of the things I can control in my professional life such as:

  • Getting up, dressing up and showing up
  • Being a driving force in my real estate business
  • Taking real estate courses to improve my skills
  • Maintaining a presence in my community
  • Being open for business during the week

I am able to continue going forward with a positive attitude regarding real estate by telling myself that "Everything Is Going To Be.", because there really are no guarantees that it will be OK.

How do you stay positive in order to move your business forward?

BIG Banks Eating Smaller Banks...Is That What The Bailout Amounts To?!

banksBig Banks reportedly using their bailout money to buy up smaller banks instead of helping homeowners...did I miss something here?! I was under the impression that the bailout was to be used to help homeowners stay in existing homes or buyers to get into homes...

What are your thoughts?

And what impact do you think will it have on real estate?

U.S. Citizen? You Better Be Able To Prove It!

badgeOn a recent trip to Pittsburgh, my bother and I decided to visit family and friends in Canada...no problem, I had 2 forms of I.D. and breezed through the border station on the way up. We had a fabulous time at the shoreline and eating at several restaurants, most notably The Keg in Toronto.

After several days, it was time to return to Pittsburgh and we said our goodbyes and headed south. We visited the Duty Free store where I bought many souvenirs with the Canadian logo imprinted on them and proceeded to the border station.

The border patrol took my brother's passport and my 2 forms of I.D. and then said to me...

"You have yet to prove to me that you are a U.S. citizen!" "How are you going to convince me that were born in the U.S.?

My answer..."I...don't... know."?!

He said "Do you have any other forms of I.D. on you?" "No", I said. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed a birth certificate or passport in order to get back across the border!

I had visions of being barred from my homeland and becoming a Canadian citizen and selling Canadian real estate to make a living! I love the U.S.A! I love southern Utah! And besides...I've become allergic to the COLD! I can't take it! Except in small doses.

He finally allowed us to cross...and my advice is...in order to avoid a sudden drop in your blood pressure or a sudden urge to purge bodily fluids, get your passport if you plan to travel into Canada. As of June, they will not take any other form of I.D.!

God Bless America!

$90 Costume, 250 Eggs, Unbridled Joy...PRICELESS!

Easter BunnyDid I think I would make such an impact when I purchased a $90 Easter Bunny costume on-line?

No.

Did I think that I would be lifted up by the pure joy in the faces and actions of the people I have visited this week?

No.

Did I make the right decision to volunteer a little time to my community?

YES!

Several weeks ago I was cruising the internet and came across a costume site...Wow! What a selection! I saw the Easter Bunny costume and thought it would be fun to dress up and visit some old friends. Well, I have now been to 8 places and will go to several more before Easter! ( I volunteer for people with disabilities). My heart was touched at least 250 times...the number of candy-filled eggs I have handed out so far. I admit the bunny head is heavy, hot and awkward but that is forgotten after a few sincere hugs.

I love my southern Utah community and truly feel connected when I am contributing to the joy of others!

The event will take place on May 1, 2010, and will consist of:

  • 2.4-mile swim
  • 112-mile bike
  • 26.2-mile run
  • The inaugural Ford Ironman St. George will utilize a variety of Utah's scenery, to include Sand Hollow Reservoir, Snow Canyon and the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.
