Home Buyers - Don't forget your due diligence!

I was holding an open house on Sunday for a woman who is anxious to sell, or rent, the home she bought 2 years ago but lived in only a few months. Why? Because even though it was only a couple of miles away from the elementary school in the school district that she thought her children would go to . . . her children would have to go to a different school district. So after closing she found herself in a rental in the next town that was in the district she wanted her children to go to and she was trying to rent out the home she just bought. Crazy, yes? No!

This is an easy mistake to make and an easy mistake to avoid. One click - that's all it takes . . . one click. One click of your mouse and you can easily find out what schools your children will attend in Anne Arundel County. The Anne Arundel County Public Schools have a web page that allows you to enter a street address and it will list the schools that will serve that address. As easy as that! Just go to http://mapinfo.aacps.org to get started.

This is a great place to start doing your due diligence regarding schools. Your next step should then be (as the site recommends) to verify the school assignment by calling the Planning Office.
