Halloween seems to bring out the pranksters!

Ok! Don't get freaked out! A lady explained to me what her son did this morning! They are family pranksters. Mom, Marjorie bought some variations of spiders this week from the Spirit Halloween store that opened next to our CENTURY 21 New Millennium office in Solomons. The son is petrified of spiders. Mom proceeds to put the black creatures on the bed pillows and various places in the home. As you would expect. The 20+ son screams like a baby. So, now it's time to get mom back. Well, this morning Marjorie is getting ready for work ready to take a shower - Humm.. now picture this (6:00 am and a little groggy and trying to wake up). Mom opens the curtain to this lovely surprise. Need I say more. Mom shrieks and runs out of the bathroom. How would you like to wake up to this lovely face? So, now she has me thinking. Laughter is the best medicine for all ailments. My son will be home in a couple of weeks and let the games begin.. Halloween seems to bring out the Pranksters!

Southern Maryland Rockfishing on The Chesapeake Bay!

ocean city rockfish striper

Southern Maryland Rock Fishing(Striper)!

Striper Dave - fishing in the rain, at night - that is dedication to your sport. The amazing part is that even in this nasty, dreary, Nor'easter rainy mess - he catches fish. October 18, 2009.

Estreme fishing produces fish. I was at it again at my local marina in the rain/light drizzle. It wasn't too bad. The water was way up and the current was ripping out of the creek. I didn't notice the obvious splashes as I usually do, only very slight water movement to indicate stripers in the area. My first cast with the bomber plug produced a 14 incher. Ten more casts and nothing. I switched up to my Storm swim shad and on the 3rd cast HOOKED UP to a nice fish approx. 20 inches or so. This fish looked like it had some battle wounds - not sure from what, but a nice fight and catch. So don't let this rain get in your way - get out and FISH.

Southern Maryland Kayaks for Fishing

Southern Maryland Kayaks for Fishing!

For those who know they need to get out away from the shore but are short of funds for a motor, trailer, and boat, for those who have despaired of their fishing boats for the time spent getting to the water and burning expensive quantities of fuel once there, and especially for those looking for a greener fishing alternative, a specially engineered kayak is a great solution.

Kayak fishing is getting more and more popular--there are magazines and web sites devoted to it--and with very good reasons. You're no longer shore-bound, and you have a small enough craft to launch from nearly anywhere. You buy and burn no gas while on the water, and in fact you benefit from the exercise of paddling. You might spend less time getting to fishing spots: I live a five minute walk to a beach, but a twenty minute drive to the marina. I can be on the water, including the walk, faster than I could get to the marina and launch, not to mention the extra no-wake-speed ride time from the marina down the channel and back out to the lake.

You are independent. If your setup allows launching without assistance, you can go virtually anywhere.

Kayaks for fishing are made by numerous boat builders, in two general styles: sit-on-top (the most common) and sit-inside boats. Sit-inside kayaks are what most of us think of when the word "kayak" comes to mind. A sit-on-top is a lot more like a surfboard with a seat molded into it, but they are very popular.

Sit-on-tops have a lot of virtues. Most are relatively inexpensive and easily available. They have nifty dry hatches and some have built-in live wells and bait wells; they come with integral rod holders, some have mounted swiveling rod holders, and a few have innovative hands-free foot-operated propelling mechanisms. Sit-on-tops are virtually impossible to sink, are wide and stable, and easy to climb back onto if you fall off.

Speechless Sunday ~ I Got It! Just a Whisper!

This is a little whisper on Speechless Sunday~ I commented this morning on Debbie Malone, post about about Speechless Sunday - Oh Deer..............Forest, Virginia. My comment : Great photos ~ I have seen many deer this week, but haven't gotten that photo yet! So, I worked in the cold, dreary, rainy Sunday. Finally getting home; cold, wet and tierd. Look what I had in my back yard. I only had my mobile phone, so this is what I took. The light was in the wrong direction, but I finally got the picture!
