Winter Snow Fall History at Deep Creek Lake

One of the most common questions I am asked about Deep Creek Lake and Wisp, is "how much snow do you get in an average year?" - I must first say that almost no year is average, weather wise at least. I did however find a great chart tracing total snowfall for Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County since 1940. In two of those years, 1996 and 2003 we had over 200 inches of snow.

Tom and Kathy TandemThis is Betsy's partner writing. Spring is just around the corner, time to get our tandem out. We are the only tandem in the Deep Creek Lake area, but would like to connect with other couples coming to the area. We have great rides, some cirle Deep Creek Lake. Great in spring, summer and fall. Forget winter. Feel free to drop me an email if you are in the area with your bike. k.johnson@lnf.com

While walking today, it's 65 degrees, I stumbled onto my favorite forcaster of spring - Snow Drops - they carpet large areas of woods and are just a pleasure to see this time of year. Although we are still a couple weeks away for the official start of spring, to me it has arrived. Time to get out the bikes! Well maybe I'll wait till the roads have been cleaned first.

Although Pokey was unavailable for comment at the time of this posting, Margie reports that he is extremely please with the results and would be happy to slober on everyone. Pokey can be seen around Deep Creek Lake with his owner, Marjorie Fridkin.

Again - thank you for all you support. One more look at that wonderful face.

We are at one day and four hours from the end of the Garrett County Humane Society Photo Contest. As of this moment Pokey still holds 7th place in the country - yes, country, not county. Pokey's person, Margie, expects alot of last minute voting and reports Pokey pacing more than usual. He really want to hold on to the top ten ranking. All votes will be appreciated.
