It's true that the Los Angeles market has slowed down, but with a combination of smart pricing and Staging, your listings will sell.
Here's just one of our many recent success stories...
Dana Ehrlich, a fabulous Keller Williams agent I work with, had just taken over a very stale listing from another agent. The Santa Monica home had been on the market for 7 months with the previous agent. During that time the home had undergone $300K in price reductions, but no mention was made of Staging. When Dana came on board she immediately recommended Staging the home and called us. Dana's smart pricing strategy, coupled with Staging the home, brought the homeowner an accepted offer within 2 weeks! Needless to say, her clients were thrilled!

It may sound odd, but potential buyers view the rooms in a home from the doorway. Walk through every home you list and stand in the doorway of each room to view it as a potential buyer will.
Where is your eye drawn and how do you feel when you look into each room? Does the furniture arrangement make the room feel cramped or awkward from this vantage point? Is the art on the wall crooked? Can you see the dirty laundry hamper?
Once you've figured out the problem, how can you fix it? You may need to adjust the layout of the furniture to highlight a focal point, such as a fireplace, or detract from a negative feature (like an oversized television). It may be as simple as moving a hamper out of your field of vision or removing an extra piece of furniture that's making the room feel cramped.
If you know something is wrong but just can't figure out what to do about it, call a professional Stager for a consultation!
Standing in the doorway is the first thing I do in every home I Stage, and it's the first step you can take as a Realtor to find and fix any potential buyer turnoffs.

This past Saturday, Sept. 15th, was World Wide Staging Day for the International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP). Our local West Los Angeles Chapter's project was the Day Center at the Downtown Womens' Center (http://www.dwcweb.org). The Downtown Women’s Center provides 40,000 meals, 47 permanent housing apartments, and a wide array of other supportive services to over 2000 homeless and very low-income women each year. The Day Center is a space where homeless women can come during the day to take a shower and a nap and have something to eat.
With generous donations from CORT Furniture Rental and Fashion Furniture, our local ASPs were able to transform a once dreary room into a warm, homelike sanctuary for these women. I can't tell you what a rewarding experience it was to unveil the room and see the looks on the faces of the women who live in the Residence at the Center. Their smiles and thanks made all our planning and hard work worth every minute!
Brooke Lykins, the Volunteer Department Manager, told us that one of the things shown to increase the effectiveness of services provided to homeless women is a warm, homelike environment. We were happy to provide that for the many women who use this fabulous Center.
Jill Allen of J. Allen Interiors was the WWSD Ambassador for our Chapter and her incredible work on this project over the last year was what made it such a huge success!
Below are before & after photos of the room we transformed.

Local ASPs who participated on the Staging Day were (from top left) Annie Pinsker-Brown, Jill Allen, Tina & Bill Parish. Others who helped through purchases made ahead of time were Mariana Fodolyan and Penny Cunningham.
