An alarming article I read this morning, shows that 25.5% of consumers (that is over 43 million people) have a credit score of less then 599. WOW!!!!!! Someone sound the buzzer, not only as a REALTOR, but just as a realist I think this is something to be concerned about.
On a positive note, the article goes on to say that people with over 800 credit scores are on the rise. It says that over 17% of people now fit this category, compared to above the notable average of 13%.
As a personal opinion, I think the current FICO system is outdated and pretty much a joke. I mean really, you want a credit card and maybe look into buying a car...and you lose 10-20 points? Not to say the amount of people that are hitting hard times and just unable to make ends meet. Is it really fair to kick a person while he or she is down? I'm all about punishing people for their actions, however sometimes you just have to hit PAUSE to allow room for improvement for unforeseeable situations.
You can read the article from WTOPNEWS, HERE. Want your FICO credit score to improve? You can read an article from MSN, HERE for 7 quick ways to make that happen.
