False Leads on Activerain

I got a phone call the other day, and it went like this:

Old Black Phone

Caller: Are you Deborah?

Me: Yes I am.

Caller: I got your number from your Active rain profile.

Me: (thinking) Wow! A lead! Yahoo! This really works!

Caller: I'm So and So from So and So and we're looking for agents in your zipcode for only $199 a month you will receive all the leads in your area. Is this something that you could use?

Well yeah I could use some good leads. Why doesn't the company capture the leads and have their own agents following up? After I questioned the caller, they told me the price. What is it? Do all these companies think that Realtors are made of money. If things were so good, how come the caller is not jumping on this opportununity? Give me a break!

Okay, Mr & Mrs Seller when is too much too much!

Okay Mr & Mrs Seller - When is too much too much?

I went to a brokers' open awhile back, a lovely high end property in a really nice side of town. My fellow agent wanted our office to critique and provide feedback for the seller. From the first step inside, I realized I had fallen down a rabbit hole.

The living room, I guess that's what is was, had manniquin torsos dressed in 18th century gowns with velvet, lace and way too many beads to mention. There were tea cups and doilies on every surface. Feather boa's and beads were draped over door openings. Sheet music, ceramic dolls, stuffed animals and way to many other collections to mention. There were fake flowers in the kitchen, collectibles in the laundryroom. Sports Nostalgia in the lower level.

The entire house was a museum of what the homeowner liked. I was so busy gwaking, I couldn't even imagine a buyer being able to picture themselves living there.

This was an extreme example of how not to get your home sold. The seller did several things that would prevent their home from selling.

#1. They were so in love with their stuff, they thought the potential buyer would too. They did not declutter or depersonalize.

#2. They did not take the advice of their realtor who told them to pack up all the collectibles and make it look normal. That's why we were there.

#3. They needed to rent a storage unit, pack up and remove anything not essential. This would allow the house to be seen and show off the square footage.

United Way Day of Caring - Working at the car wash - Keep those cars coming!

I joined Cutler Real Estate because they are local, family oriented, well known and respected in Stark County, and they believe in being involved in the community. We were well represented by my fellow agents, Title people, Insurance, Accounting, Managers, and CEO Jim Camp. We washed 13 Red Cross vans and one truck. The vans are used to take patients to dialysis and other appointments. The truck is used to haul disaster relief trailers.
