The 2010 Hanover Tomato Festival is coming up in a bit less than 1 month. Pole Green Park will come alive with vendors and music and of course, that all important Hanover Tomato. From its humble beginnings at Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department, to the expansion at Battlefield Elementary to the huge event it has become at Pole Green Park, my family has fond memories of this event.

As a teenager riding in the parade when it was still in Black Creek....to my daughter participating in the Little Miss pageant and my son as future firefighter....

Head on out to the Tomato Festival on Saturday July 10th and make your own memories!

Well, Mechanicsville, The Steelheadz of Virginia finally have a new place to call home! Wild Willie's, located at 6233 Mechanicsville Turnpike has rolled out the red carpet for the Steelheadz!

With all of the TV's tuned in to the Steeler's game, Ice Cold Iron City Beer, a wall full of Steelers "Stuff" , great food and friendly staff......we truly felt welcomed! With over 50 fans turning out in all of their black and gold splendor, week 1 of the 2008 season was truly fantastic! One member brought his "Terrible Golf Cart" up and they actually let us pull it inside during the game.

After not having a regular home for the 2007 season, it was like a family reunion for those of us who hadn't hung out in a while. From the early days at Mulligan's in Mechanicsville, to the change in ownership to first Clocktower Pub and then Fourth Down......to the awful experience at BW3 in the Ville.......to this:

Sunday was opening day and the turnout was quite impressive. This local Pittsburgh Steeler's fan club has been in existence since the 2001 season right here in Mechanicsville. As the "First Lady" of the club, I have been there through all of the ups, downs, ins and outs of this "Steeler Family" We have lost a few members over the years and would love to have them stumble across us and find their way back. We have met some really cool people and made some lasting friendships and really hated losing touch with some of the regulars.....You know who you are! Look us up and slip on in for a game! We miss you all.

The 50/50 raffle will be returning for the 08 season as well......new T-shirts should be on order this week and we have some really cool prizes that will be given away. If you bleed black n gold like we do, we would love to have you come join us!

If you are looking for a quiet place to sit and contemplate the meaning of life......Well, this ain't it! But if you are searching for a group of DIEHARD Steeler's fans who are loud, obnoxious and truly love this football team.......then we are for you! (As overheard from a disgruntled patron at BW3's last season: "Do these darn Steeler's fans cheer on EVERY down?"~~~~Well, yes, YES we do!)
