In the real estate business, it's crucial to be confident, strong during negotiations and protective of our clients' best interest. But sometimes, you meet a Mr./Ms. Nasty!
You know the Agent I'm talking about. They demand you take care of their request right now or say things like, "What do you mean your client won't accept that? Don't you know how to do your job?" They call your lender and rant about your client's loan taking so long or they call your home inspector and chew them out for finding problems with their listing - usually problems the seller knew about and didn't want to admit.
Maybe they didn't get enough sleep the night before. Do they feel the need to just bulldoze their way through everything or is it their way of commanding respect? Do they feel empowered by acting this way, possibly seeing themselves as having to school the rest of us with an iron fist? Maybe they are so burned out that everything they do is painful.
I'm sure every agent can think of a few people in their market arena that acts this way on a constant basis. Have you ever received a contract to purchase and thought:
"Oh no, guess who just sent me a contract for my listing? This is going to be a tough one!"
As agents we are bound to put our personal feelings aside, put our client's needs first, and cover ourselves with the professional hat that requires tolerance for "Mr/Mrs. Nasty." But that doesn't make their actions okay.
In the time I have been in sales, I've never had to be rude or condescending to my fellow colleagues. There have been days that I was frustrated with life but I've been able to remember that this job places us squarely under the private and professional microscope. It's our reputation at stake, and in the real estate field, that is all we have. Being kind, tolerant and respectful is not a sign of weakness and anyone who believes that it is, I say, "Bring It On!"
So how about let's lose the ATTITUDE and build a reputation of TRUE professionalism.
Hello and welcome to my first ever blogging experience. I just went to a meeting and found out the world is not flat. There is a whole new electronic dimension that I have yet to experience and it's called Blogging. Yes, I have heard the word before but never understood that there was a fun and educational aspect to it. So here I sit in my pre school seat anxious to get started
As an inexperienced blogger I pray those of you who read my posts will be kind enough to steer me in the right direction. I always welcome other opinion weather agreeing or disagreeing with my views so thanks in advance for you kindness.
