There are a lot a different communities and subdivisions to live in Omaha, NE. Papillion Nebraska is where I chose to buy a home and raise a family. So as local Papillion Realtor, I decided to create a webpage just for the Papillion La Vista area. Some of the things, I liked about Papillion is the small town feel with lower crime rates and quality schools. Now with the recent additions of local shopping and restaurants at Shadow Lake Towne Center, I think Papillion has greatly improved over the past couple of years. If you live in Papillion, I would love to hear what you like.

Recently, I was directed by my wife to switch out all the gold hardware in our home. At first it didn't seem like a big task, but then I realized that meant all the door knobs, hinges, and light fixtures. It was either update these items or move. As a realtor I love helping people find new homes, but hate to move myself. So after several weeks of off and on work, I now have a box of knobs and fixtures. Did you know? Habitat for Humanity in Omaha has a Store called "ReStore". According to the Omaha Habitat for Humanity website, "The ReStore accepts new and used building-related materials from contractors, suppliers, individuals, remodelers and property managers. Some materials are used directly in the construction of Habitat homes, but most are offered to the general public to purchase at significantly reduced prices." This is a great place to donate your unwanted building materials.

A few weeks back I was invited by Papillion La Vista School District to an informational meeting for Papillion Realtors. One topic discussed was the proposed change in school district boundaries. One question asked was "Why does PLSD need to change the boundary?" Their response was the majority of Papillion's growth is south of Cornhusker, by changing the boundary now will help equalize the student population between the two high schools in the future.

There was an article in the Omaha World Herald about the proposed boundary changes. If you live in or considering moving to Eagle Hills, Eagle Ridge and Cottonwood this boundary change will affect you.
Over the past year, I have sold several New Celebrity Homes in Omaha, NE. The other day I requested a price sheet from Monica Lang. She mentioned the new area in Cimarron Woods in La Vista. I thought, "What!" She said, "Celebrity Homes in Omaha bought the remaining lots in the Cimarron Woods East area." They plan to build larger two story and ranch homes in the area. This is the second subdivision that Celebrity Homes has bought up the remaining lots, the other being Giles Corner (72nd and Harrison).
One thing to consider when building a new home in Omaha, NE is how many lots in the subdivision have sold. The more lots sold the less likely this could happen to you. Secondly, if you are one of the first homes built in area and it is slow to develop, you may have higher property taxes because the SID debt is paid back by the home owners. On a positive note, if you built one of the first homes in Cimarron Woods East or Giles Corner, your property taxes may go down.
