Ribbon Cutting Grand Opening for The Frame Shop St Petersburg Florida

Ribbon Cutting - The Frame Shop, St Petersburg, FloridaToday was the "Grand Opening" of The Frame Shop on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, Florida, in the Grand Central Business District.

Our clients, the Rohrs, opened this business after buying a bungalow in nearby Kenwood - an older neighborhood just featured in a national bungalow publicatrion.

Just a few blocks from home they opened The Frame Shop. Jeremiah can do wonders in two or three dimensional framing.

The Grand Central Business District is an interesting, low-key, neighborhood business area, adjavent to Kenwood. As a matter of fact, in the same block is the Charles Edwards Salon, where Nick, my hairdresser, operates his business.

Russian art to be auctioned in St Petersburg Florida

Over 450 items of Russian art will be auctioned in St Petersburg on August 2, 2008. The auction is being held by Aberdeen-Auctions and includes some Russian icons.

The art items can be preciewed on august 1st from noon to 6 pm at the Gallery at 212 Beach Drive NE in downtown St. Petersburg. You can also view the auction online at www.LiveAuctioneers.com

One of the pieces, a watercolor by I.Y. Bilibin, is estimated at $45 Million to $60 Million. The items to be auctioned include paintings, drawings, porcelain, folk art, silver, sculptures, bronze works and Russian icons.

Is there really glass there?

Museum Glass"Is there really glass there?", asked everyone who looked at it - and even then, each one had to go up and touch it to be sure. Though "Museum Glass" is more expensive, it's startling in the difference. With a shadowbox piece of art, it's even more evident.

That was my biggest Aha a week ago when I attended an opening party for The Frame Shop in the historic Grand Central Business District of St Petersburg. The new business is owned by new residents (and clients) Susan and Jeremiah Rohr, who have settled into a wonderful old bungalow in the Kenwood neighborhood.

Yes, if you're here in the St Petersburg area they'll go to your home to hang the art, or to consult on suitable matting and framing. You who live away from here can benefit, too, though - they'll be happy to crate and ship the art for you.

Planning a move? Why pack and pay a mover for those art pieces you've wanted to have framed or reframed? Have Jeremiah and Susan frame them and ship or deliver them to your new address.

Explaining blogging - blog topics

This afternoon Tami and I met with the owners of a downtown St Petersburg condo in Bayfront Towers and were talking about internet marketing strategies. They knew what blogging was, in general terms, but didn't understand how that would relate to marketing a property. I was explaining that it's not the same as just saying you have a 3 bedroom condo priced at x, etc - it's about finding points to blog about.

For example, I'd blog about the raised platform in their master bedroom, in the bay window, where they have two comfortable chairs looking out at a magnificent water view - and would tie that in to watching the planes come and go from Albert Whitted Airport, and how that might attract pilots and business executives needing a convenient airport. That led to talks about individuals who had purchased there - how they found it, and why they bought.

Then they told me about a feature even I didn't know about - each floor of the highrise condo has a bicycle room, with a door leading to the back of the freight elevator. So - not only do owners have a place to store their bicycles other than in their storage room, the parking levels or their condo unit, but all they have to do is press the call button, go down the elevator, and bike out into the streets - then reverse the process when they return.

They quickly realized that it's all about letting people know the value of the amenities - what's the benefit to them, how does it affect their lifestyle. We had such a great conversation and so many blog topic leads that I'll be getting back together with them just to write down all the blog possibilities.

They had one fantastic blog idea - and perfect photo op - regarding the library in the building ... but that's a surprise for a future blog.

Let your imagination run with blog ideas to market a property through its benefits.

In the meantime, Bayfront Tower is a perfect condo for

  • Pilots and flyers
  • Bicycle riders

Phil Graham Studio

Phil Graham StudioPhil Graham is a landscape architect that has been a St Petersburg icon for many years. In December he was purchased by and merged into ValleyCrest Design Group. Phil has moved from his location at 436 Second St N. in downtown St Petersburg to this new location at 646 Second Avenue South. As you can see, workers are still putting on the finishing touches.

ValleyCrest Design has built several of Phil Graham's designs over the years, so it seems only appropriate to merge. ValleyCrest has an excellent idea in keeping small "Studios" that perpetuate the local landscape architect in a boutique atmosphere for a large, national company.

JMC Communities has used Phil Graham for many of its projects, including Sandpearl on Clearwater Beach, The Bellamyov in Tampa, and the newest (under construction), Ovation in downtown St Petersburg. That's certainly a merger of local experts!
