Story Mill Developer Files Personal Bankruptcy
By Jonathan Weber, 2-17-09 from the NewWest Bozeman Online Resource

The developer of the much-touted Story Mill development in Bozeman, Matthew R. Crocker, has filed for personal bankruptcy, according to court records.
Crocker, the son of embattled Yellowstone Club owner Edra Blixseth, had envisioned a major mixed-use development at the site of the historic Story Mill on Bozeman's north side. The project won approval from the city, but funding dried up in the wake of the financial crisis at the Yellowstone Club and the real estate meltdown.
Crocker and his mother co-signed a $13 million loan with a Colorado finance company, Western Capital Partners, which is now in default. All work on Story Mill has been at a standstill for several months and its not clear if and when foreclosure proceedings or other legal action on the property might begin.
Crocker could not be reached for comment. The phone number listed on the bankruptcy filing is not in service. The Feb. 13 filing included few details but estimated that he had between 200 and 999 creditors and between $1 million and $10 million in assets.

Bozeman, MT (January 14, 2009) - Black Bull, the new Family and Golf Community in Montana, is one of only 10 new communities that made it on the list of the "Top 100 Golf Communities in America" by Travel + Leisure Golf.
The January/February 2009 issue features those communities who, according to Travel + Leisure Golf writers David Gould and Lauren Kay, have "exquisite environments which are case studies in how to make life on earth as pleasing, stimulating and worthwhile as possible. They have sited themselves within the finest natural surroundings one could wish for, and added all the comforts of home."
The Winchester Group, one of the developers of Black Bull, have six communities making this year's annual list, with three featured in the Top 25.
"It feels great to have others recognize the work we've put into these six courses," says Mike Rowe, Principal of The Winchester Group. "These are exceptional courses that create a total golf and community experience for their members."
"We are very encouraged to see Black Bull recognized at this level so quickly," adds Mike. "Others are just beginning to see the vision we've worked on for many years and they are noticing the quality behind our newest golf community."
Activities at Black Bull vary with the seasons... golf, swimming, tennis, fishing in the warmer months, cross-country skiing and ice skating in the cooler months. The centerpiece of the community is the 19-hole Tom Weiskopf golf course, which opened for member play in July 2008. At 16 acres, the community also boasts one of the largest practice facilities in the Rocky Mountains.
Every homesite at Black Bull has views of five mountain ranges, the golf course or water features. Single-family custom homesites, ranging from one-third of an acre to an acre, are currently available in the first phase of Black Bull.
