Voting? What we DON'T teach our kids. As the mom of 5 kids, 2 of whom are old enough to vote I learned that #3, 19 didn't vote, isn't registered and i wondered WHY NOT. Basically FEAR. He didn't know where or how to register. Typically you can do this at the DMV but since his license was gotten 3 years ago and he was too young to vote he didn't register. Chances are real good, he'd wouldn't stop infront of a grocery store to register, answer the door to register, so where would be get this information? Secondly he was afraid because to put it simply he "doesn't know HOW." How to what? Analyse the candidates and the issues, maybe. How to go to the polling place? How to fill out the ballot? How to get an absentee ballot? Just straight up HOW. My youngest son, 17 and loves poly-sci and history had a GREAT suggestion and comment. Why isn't this taught in the Junior or Senior year in High School? In California US History is a full year class in the junior year of high school and US Government is a Senior class. What are we missing here. Isn't it funadmental to our country that our young people are taught HOW to vote. Not WHO to vote for, but HOW. The real nuts and bolts of HOW. Voting, have you taught your kids?
Nobody is looking at Houses in Texas or Northern CA when the World Series is on. Strangely enough my phone goes dead, no one will make a listing or buying appointment not when the Rangers and the Giants are on TV. If you can't be at ATT park, which may be the most beautiful venue in all Ball Parks, you can cheer from anywhere in Northern CA... You want to know a secret, that's great for me. I'm a Giants fan. It's been a torturous season for Giant's fans, yet get into the World Series and the Giants made baseball look EASY against the Rangers. yes I Know - there are 4 more games, and no one is singing yet, but our boys are looking good. There's a different hero every night. The pitching duel between Lee and Lincecum didn't pan out but Matt Cain sure put on a performance today. 23 innings in the post season without giving up a single earned run. My twitter feeds and facebook comments are hopping during the game... and that's so fun. I'm making contacts with people who might not follow me otherwise. I'm working, making connections while I cheer on my team.

Houses in Mountain House - Are you buying?
If you're considering moving to Mountain House, CA I'd like to make a couple of suggestions.
As a local agent there are somethings you should know.
1) You should use a local agent. While family friends, an agent from miles away, etc can give great advise, you as the buyer will be best represented by a local agent. Encourage your 'friend, family agent, etc' to refer you to a REALTOR is Mountain House. The referral agent can get paid a referral fee and you get great local representation.
Why is this important? 1) As a local agent in Mountain House CA I can tell you about the schools, the local asseessments, the unique fees that have to paid on Lenar Homes and lots more.
2) Do your home work. Learn about the schools, read articles, don't just believe what everyone tells you. For instance, do good research on when a High School will be built. To date, there are no definitive plans. Tracy Unified has to release the students and allow Mountain House to incorporate.
3) Consider how far it is to the nearest grocery store, restaraunt etc. I'm not saying this is an issue for most, just be aware.
Last there are windmills on the hills to the west for a reason. When those "fans" are on it can be very windy in Mountain House.
I think Mountain House is a great community. Tri-Mark has done an excellet job marketing Mountain House as "the place of promise"and a go to destination for home owners. I happen to agree with them. There are a lot of great places to live just East of Livermore Valley.
If you'd like to schedule an appointment to go shopping for a home in Mountain House give me a call. If you'd like to search the Multiple Listings Service (MLS) for FREE without anyone hasseling you, log on to my website. I promise -- you call me when you're ready.
I was there -- were you? Mountain House's Music in the Park.
It was gorgeous Saturday night, there was a breeze (well this is Mountain House, and the 'fans' were on in the hills). There were 500- 600 familes hanging out in the grass listeing to the Music in the Park in Mountain House, CA.
There were a lot of little kids who danced their hearts out to the sounds of the Sun Kings who perfomed music by the Beatles. Most of the songs I'd heard, some were "side 2" and were completely new to me.
Bring a picnic, leave the alcohol at home, it's not allowed unless you purchase it inside the orange fence.
The Girl Scouts were on hand to sell water. Local Tracy Wineries were on hand to sell glasses of wine.
I'll be there this week - August 7, time from 5 - 8. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, picnic, tapping toes and have a blast. Text me when you get there.
This week - August 7 - Country music by Diablo Road
August 14 - Aja Vu - this band does a great tribute to Steeley Dan
August 21 - El Paseo - this will be a compliation of smooth Jazz and Funk. I'm not sure how those go together.
Join me in Mountain House - Music in the Park, Saturday from 5 - 8
