Oh my gosh, I can't believe how much fun I have had at the fair yesterday. I went to the fair and saw the 4H kids with their bunnies doing the agility track. I don't know how this got started but it was great. There were things to jump over and and tunnels to go through and most of the bunnies did pretty good.
Ok, so I held an open house both Saturday and Sunday. I was amazed at home many people came through on Superbowl Sunday. They all said we are not football fans so we were just out and about. I think I will always hold opens now on big football weekends. I did pick up one buyer, but most were just curios about this "bank owned" property and wanted to know how the market was.
Ok, so the story can be told in the numbers
This is just for Canby Oregon
Canby Homes on the market - 133, Pending 16, Sold in the past month 13
Canby Short Sales on the market 32, Pending 0, Sold in the past month 2
Canby Bank owned properties on the market 10, Pending 5, Sold in the past month 6
So 25% of our market is Short Sales, and less than 10% is bank owned, but 50% of sales are with the bank owned.
I guess the good news here is that homes are selling.
I had some out of town guests last weekend who love to go to antique and thrift stores. So it was my job to come up with some places to go. Anyone who knows Canby, knows that Aurora, just 3 miles down the road is filled with fun antique stores. But I went online looking for some less popular places and I found this great place in Woodburn Oregon. I can't tell you how many times I have probably driven by it and never even saw it. It's huge and has lots of fun stuff. There is vintage jewelry, marbles, hats, hardware, tools, books, glassware, bakeware, pictures, mirrors.... I bought a fun 1940's hat, some books, and some jewelry. So if you have clients that are looking for fun things for their vintage home, its worth the trip, and well send them to Aurora too. There are at least a dozen antique stores in Aurora.
Do you live in the Canby or Portland area? Do you like to sing? Now is the time to go check out a Sweet Adelines chorus for women or a Barbershop chorus for men. Christmas time is a great time to try out a chorus to see if its what you want to do. We just started practicing our Christmas Music last night. Cascade Harmony Chorus meets every Monday night at 7pm in Canby. We do lots of performing at Christmas Time. We sing at Nursing Homes, Christmas Parties, and well for whomever will hire us. It is very rewarding to sing at Nursing Homes as they are so excited to have company and to hear live carols. Now for the men in Canby there is the Pitch Pipers and they meet on Thursdays.
Here is the link to Cascade Harmony in case you need more information or have a friend who would love more information.
It is a great group of women who love to sing, perform, and compete.
