I started in the mortgage business after realizing my 17 year insurance jobs was being eliminated. I thought I had another year but was surprised in Jan 07 with a layoff. My wife and I started our own mortgage company in Feb 07 just in time for the industry to start down the dusty trail to its current state.
I moved to Apple Mortgage mid 2008 and it has been much diffferent. We have solid lenders, a good loan staff and FHA which I didn't have on my own. Business has been much better and is becoming more active now as rates settle.
The Home Buyers Scouting Report has been a big contributor to our success. It's difficult to differentiate yourself in the sea of brokers, all offering the lowest rates and best service. While we all hope to offer both we can now offer a system that realtors find as a useful marketing tool and contact conversion system.
Several of us are now having our best years ever because we are able to truly help our realtors bring buyers to the closing table. We can now offer best rates, low costs, good service and a software system that keeps us in touch with the buyer and realtor.
