Sushi - and lots of ginger!

This was purchased at my local Atascocita HEB. My compliments to their on-site Sushi Chef! The HEB Sushi Bar has a wide variety of sushi combinations to select from. From the easily recognizable California Roll to the Unago (Eel) seen in the photo above. And although ginger is ordinarily used as a palate cleanser between different types of sushi, I enjoy it right along with my bites. And today at HEB, the sushi chef was very accommodating, as always, and added extra ginger for my lunch.

One of my team members, Carol, sent me this story about her newest start at the gym. I asked if she'd mind me sharing it with you. She said that everyone needs to know about the rigors of spinning. So, here goes...

"Carol, do you want to go to spinning class with me?" asked my friend Deb. I agreed to because Deb had said it was just stationary biking, easy on the knees & you could go at your own pace. How hard could it be?
First, when we arrive, the instructor is so pleased to have me as a new spinner. The instructor - I'll call her Bambi - weighs about 11 ½ pounds and wears a size 00. She says "Oh, you are going to LOVE this class. It is easy on your knees, fun to do, burns a lot of calories and is just like a big combination of lunges & squats." What? What did she say about the lunges and squats? Before I can ask more about that, Bambi says, "Ooooh, you have long legs, just like me." I don't' get our twin-ness, since she is only 4'11", but then it dawns on me that my legs are her height! Bambi begins to adjust my seat, pedals & handlebars. She pronounces me ready to go!
So, I place my foot in the pedal and swing onto the seat. I realize at that moment that I have a faulty bike, since the seat appears to be missing. As I dismount to change bikes, the spinner chick next to me is watching me intently. I find out it is also her first night of spinning hell. As I poke at the "seat," she says, "That is the seat. You don't get any more cushion." Surely she is wrong. She is new and doesn't know. Bambi comes perkily bouncing over to see why I am not in the spinning for my life position. When I show her my bike's clear lack of seat, she says, "That is even our newest bike. It has the Cushion 500 seat!" And off she goes to adjust her headset for the music. I do wonder why the seat is shaped like a skinny triangle when everyone's buttocks are shaped more like two circles. My newbie friend says, "You'll get used to it." Her grimaced face doesn't convince me.
I attempt to remount the bike. I sit gingerly. My friend Deb tells me if I slide back on the seat it will be better. What is she talking about? How can I slide on this thing? It is only 6 inches long to begin with. I feel like dismantling it and just riding on the bare metal pole. It couldn't be much worse.
The music begins and we are off. And I mean we are riding those spinning machines like fourteen packs of wild jackals are chasing us around the gym. Bambi is screaming (remember the music is LOUD) "RIDE DOUBLE TIME." What? I can barely make my legs move, Now she yells "Stand up. Adjust your tension. Don't put your knees up. Stay straight up." OH MY LORD. It is horrible. I am able to stand only for the moment's peace it gives my butt. Now, Bambi runs around the room to make sure we are all in the correct position. When she gets to my row, she glares at me since I am not standing any longer. Bambi should have started on my side of the room if she wanted to see me in the standing position. I keep pedaling and shout out, "My butt is on fire!" A flip of her pony tail and she is back to kick the music up a notch. Her legs are going so fast on her bike that sparks are flying. Amazing. At that moment, I decide to quit. I point at the door to let our uber-Bambi know I am outa here. As I dismount to make my quick exit, I realize my legs are like rubber and it is quite difficult to stand. I do a great impression of Frankenstein as I lurch to the door. When I clear the door, I look back at the clock. That was the longest 12 minutes of my life!
