The Kingwood Women's Club will hold its Thirteenth Annual Holiday Marketplace at the Humble Civic Center on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is $7. Carrabba's will cater a luncheon for $25 a ticket, if you'd like an enjoyable shopping pause. And the Kingwood Women's Club cafe will also have sandwiches & snacks available for purchase.

In addition, there is a Preview Party on Monday evening October 26, 2009, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. At the preview party, wine & refreshments will be enjoyed while shopping. Tickets are $25 - which includes free general admission for Tuesday shopping. Proceeds from this Preview Party's ticket sales will benefit Project Mammogram & other local charities.

The first census was taken in 1790.  And it has been taken every ten years since.  Beginning in February & March of 2010, questionnaires will be delivered by mail to households.  The importance of the census is its affect on funding for your community and your representation in Congress.  And your response is required by law. 

The 2010 Census is using a short form for compiling its statistics.  Easy to fill out, it simply requires name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, realtionship & housing tenure.  It's confidential.  Just complete and mail back.  In April through July, census takers will visit those households that haven't responded to the questionnaires by mail.

Atascocita, Texas. Is it a city? No, Atascocita is really a large development on both sides of FM 1960, a little ways east of Humble. Wikipedia has Atascocita listed as a CDP. And before you ask, here is the Wiki definition of a CDP.

We do have a giant A located by Lake Houston. And if you said to an Atascocita resident, "it's over by the giant A," that resident would know just where you meant. We have about 60,000 people in the area and our school district is the Humble ISD. We have seen a 41% growth in population in a little over a 6 year span. Roads that were two-lane are now four lanes with a median. Shopping, dining & housing has had its growth spurt as well. It is a great place to live - come on down, I'll meet you at the giant A to begin our tour.

Texas Pride. It really does exist in the great state of Texas. We Texans are proud of our state and are not afraid to show it.
