I know that almost sounds like the "Cow Jumped Over the Moon" song but this story is true!
People often ask my why I like real estate. Yes, it is a good career and yes we have the flexibility to work 80 hours a week and meet lots of new people and see lots of houses... but one of the big reasons I enjoy this career is that it is NEVER boring!
Since we list the majority of foreclosed properties in the Bryan, College Station real estate market, we often have VERY interesting properties for sale. While showing a property in the country we had a husband and wife walking through the "yard". The "yard" was more like a f
ield with tall grass and holes and as we walked, the woman stepped/fell right into a hole. She ended up standing about waist deep in water and rotten, smelly eggs.
To make matters worse, about that time the neighbor's dog began to chase a rooster around and under the house. The neighbor began to chase the dog chasing the rooster yelling "he's gonna get that chicken". In the rooster's attempt at escaping the jaws of the dog fast on his tail feathers, the rooster heads straight for the client's truck. Of course, the truck doors were standing open and the rooster and the dog ran straight through. While helping the woman out of the hole filled with water and rotten eggs the dog ran the rooster under the house and we heard a loud clucking sound and then nothing.
The neighbor yells "he got that chicken" and the dog walks back proudly with his head held high with the rooster's neck firmly in his grasp. The neighbor ran to get the dog, the dog dropped the rooster while the rooster sprang back to life and was off and running again.
Sad to say the client decided the foul smelling adventure was more than they could handle and they moved on to purchase another property.
This is just one of the MANY "Real Estate True Tales" to come!
The Museum at the George Bush Presidential Library takes a look at some of baseball's most famous players. This exhibit is being produced together with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. It opened in College Station, Texas, on March 1st and will then travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan after closing July 20, 2008. Along with one-of-a-kind objects from private collectors, the National Baseball Hall of Fame is contributing numerous artifacts, photographs, and interactive programs. Beginning with a brief history of the evolution of the game and equipment, the exhibit features outstanding players representing each of the nine positions. It will also take a look at the Negro Leagues, Women's League, as well as Presidents and their special relationship to this most American game. This exhibit will knock the ball out of the park! For more information contact the George Bush Presidential Library at The George Bush Presidential Library or 979-691-4000.
Did you see the movie Bridges of Madison County? Or, maybe read the book?
This "bridge" isn't in Madison County but do you know where it is? Doesn't look like something we normally have in the Bryan/College Station area. Could it be in Franklin? How about Caldwell or Navasota? Do you know?
If you know be sure to post the answer first on The Century Tree Reader and win movie tickets to Premiere or Cinemark. If you are the first to post correctly you will forever be known as "Bridge" or maybe "Madison"... or.....

My what a week we have had with foreclosures! I have been in real estate since 1982 and yet this week is one for the books. In one week we had kids break into a house and spray paint almost every surface inside. Within hours the kids were arrested since it was easy to find out who was skipping school. Of course we have insurance and rehab issues to deal with and hope to close next week. At another property buyers moved in before they owned the property. Will they actually get the property purchased or will we have to evict? Who gave them the keys? Many new properties coming and more and more.
I have a great team handling these properties which allows me to spend my time doing what I love most at work. I have gotten to spend time with my sales agents helping them achieve THEIR goals. I am so blessed to work with a strong, creative and exciting group of agents that give so much of themselves to their clients. This group of agents care so much about their clients and want to do all they can to provide the best customer service possible. They continue to share marketing ideas, encourage each other and and still sell more real estate than any other firm in the Brazos Valley.
