The Newflower Farmer's Market is located on the SW corner of Manchaca & William Cannon in South Austin. They sell fresh fruit and vegetable as
well as fresh and seasoned seafood, foul and meat. No jewelry or other 'stuff' here! The selection of dried fruit and nuts is more than ample and they even have roasted pistachios without salt, that was a great find for me since until two weeks ago I couldn't find them anywhere. They even a great beer and wine department.
So far I have tried the fresh salmon and the barbequed chicken is delicious, especially if you bake it at 350° for 1.5 hours and be sure to add a little water, but let's get back on track, Newflower market has a good comprehensive variety of fresh foods and the prices are fair. My next goal is to try as many of the fresh cheeses as possible.
See you there!
On March 7th 2009, thousands of volunteers will work to clean and maintain Austin's beautiful parks and trails. This is an annual event that gives Austin's citizens the chance to get outside and get dirty. There 56 projects to choose from but act early to claim your spot as the best projects tend to fill up quickly. Volunteers usually get a goodie bag including a tee shirt as a thank you.

Update. The open house was successful; 5 families visited which is great since this property is not even on the MLS yet, and it wasn't eligible for the neighborhood tour, I guess those open house signs work after all. The house is very interesting, and is a great opportunity to get a lot of space for less than some nearby homes. Rate are low so don't miss out.
