Allen Public Library - Check out eBooks for FREE!

I didn't want to write this post yesterday because I knew it would get lost in the excitement of the Super Bowl, but this is my favorite discovery of the weekend! You can now check out e-versions of library books and download them onto your Kindle, computer, or other compatible devices. Is that amazing or what??!

The Allen Public Library has a program called Overdrive which allows you to "check out" a limited amount of eBooks for a 14 day period. Click here for more information and to get started browsing the selections.

Of course, I'm sure other libraries offer a similar, convenient program. Check with your local library to get the details.

This past weekend, the Sock Monkeys, my sister, daughter and I attended the annual Adolphus Childrens Christmas Parade in Downtown Dallas. It's an annual tradition that started for our family when my kids were young. Now, we take the grandkids and nephews.

Each year, there are a few different floats and groups. Yes, that's Elmo holding his goldfish!

But this year takes the cake!

There were Llamas marching in Christmas outfits!

How cute is THAT?! I bet Liz Wallace doesn't have llamas in her neighborhood!

Every 1st Saturday of December, you can create memories your family will never forget at the Dallas Christmas Parade. It begins at the corner of Austin and Commerce, and goes East on Commerce. Sometimes, the weather is better than others, but our kids continue to love it and talk about it through the years. It's an event worth attending!

Whoever knew 20 years ago this sleepy little farm town north of Dallas would have such energizing options for the family? Not only do we have world-class dining, shopping, and entertainment at the Allen Event Center. Now, we also have a wake-board park, skate park, inline hockey rink, and bmx track.

Soon to be added to the list of great places to play will be Cosmic Jump's 20,280 sf trampoline park! It will be located at Cornerstone Crossing, 1300 N. Central Expressway. Just in time to start the New Year off right, it is scheduled to open in December.

I'm so excited to have seen the awesome talent of the Lovejoy Lady Leopards Volleyball team last night! They won 3 straight sets to move on to the Regional Finals today. I just heard that their victory today was just as impressive.

Next step? They will return next weekend for their 4th straight Championship Finals. It's important to note that they have won 3 State Titles in the 3-A Division in a row. If they win next weekend, they will be setting a State Record by winning 4 in a row! Oh....and did I mention that they have won those Championships each year of their Varsity eligibility? That makes it even more impressive!

GO, LADY LEOPARDS, GO!!!!!!!!!!!
