Often, as real estate professionals, we get so bogged down in offering guidance in complicated contracts, numbers, property values, and market trends. But today, I would like to offer one reminder that is so simple...
As we venture deeper into Florida's active hurricane season, when you are crossing off the important items around your home's hurrican preparedness checklist, don't forget one of the most important steps...have your furry friends and felines microchipped.
As is the reality with any Florida hurricane season, should our real estate area suffer the threat of an approaching hurricane, homeowners run a higher probability of being separated from their pets. Although some hurricane shelters have changed their policies to allow some pets, not all shelters will allow animals. Please don't let your precious pets suffer from something that is so easily, and inexpensively preventable.
Any area vetrinarian can perform a simple procedure to have your pet microchipped and, should you be separated from a storm, can be returned to you if found. In addition, these services are provided at very affordable prices at the Humane Society of Tampa, http://www.humanesocietytampa.org/services/microchip/, or the Animal Coalition of Tampa at http://actampa.livejournal.com/.
It's safe, it's simple, and it's inexpensive (or free!)....so please don't forget this very important step while you are buying batteries or shopping for supplies.
