City of Jacksonville Offering Interest Free Loans to Distressed Homeowners!?

Thanks to the Florida Association of Realtors Daily News Brief delivered to my inbox every morning for informing me that the City of Jacksonville is offering up to $5,000 to distressed homeowners to help them with their mortgage payments. The amount loaned will be forgiven if they stay in the home for 5 years. The story came from a rep for the Housing Services Division of the City of Jacksonville.

I called the Housing Services Dept to get the details but have yet to be able to confirm. This would be great information to have in our Realtor tool belt since we probably come in contact with "distressed" homeowners every day.

I will keep you updated as I learn more!

About Me & The Company

I decided to change paths and start a real estate career after being laid off from the volatile software industry for the millionth time in a 3 year period (I was a software trainer). Real Estate was not foreign to me as I had bought and sold personal property plus worked as a Paralegal in Civil Litigation including Real Estate, Foreclosure & Bankruptcy. I chose real estate for the flexibility and ability to work for myself with the goal of opening my own company. I started my career at Watson Realty Corp (No, I am not related. The last name is a coincedence) and then worked at Realty Executives before opening a Sellstate Franchise in 2005. I had 3 criteria when choosing a franchise to buy 1) I wanted to offer higher commission splits for my agents 2) I wanted corporate assistance because I my goal was to focus on training and assisting agents - not get bogged down on accounting and paperwork 3) Training..I found all 3 in Sellstate so it was the natural choice for me.

In 2007, I merged with Matt Spencer of Spencer Realty Corp., North Florida Funding Inc & Atlantic Coast Title Services. We have grown to 40 agents and in September 2007 moved into our new 4,000 sq foot location on Atlantic Blvd. just East of Hodges Blvd. (at the Intracoastal). We are truly a one stop shop for agent, buyer & seller needs.
