Today I'm blogging about one of Fort Lauderdale's great dog parks - BARK PARK at SNYDER PARK.

Synder Park Sign

I have a dog named Carson and he is the cutest Beagle in the whole wide world (I know I'm biased!) Since I live in a high rise building in Downtown Fort Lauderdale and I don't have a yard, I feel it's important to take Carson to the dog park as much as I can he so he run around and expend some of his boundless energy. Luckily Fort Lauderdale has several fantastic dog parks and it doesn't have to be an all day event. The one that I often go to and love is BARK PARK at SNYDER PARK.

Bark Park

Bark Park was voted Best Dog Park in 2008 by NEW TIMES Broward/Palm Beach......"Billed as "the park dogs ask for by name," Bark Park is two sprawling acres of fun for you and your pooch. There are shade trees for owners to relax under and perhaps read the Sunday paper while keeping a lazy eye on their furry friends. And there's an exercise course so that if Spike doesn't want to play with the other Chihuahuas, he can soar over little fences and pretend he's a horse for the day. Importantly, the acreage is split into two fenced areas: a large space for big dogs which need to run far and wide, and a smaller area for those diminutive guys that might get trampled or attacked while trying to romp with the heftier breeds. Everyday East Lake at Snyder is open for dog swimming, and Labrador retrievers are the unofficial stars of the show. While some dogs only splash around the lake's edge, those yellow, chocolate, and black labs plunge into deep water, pounce on tennis balls, and proudly carry their prizes back to the humans waiting on the sandy banks. And they all know: Life off the leash is good."

Caron being chasedHere's Carson!!

Carson just LOVES going to Bark Park to run and, well...bark. He is a beagle after all and barking is one of the things they do best. :-)

Please note the agility stations in the photo. Those are for the dogs who actually listen to their owners....unlike mine! :-)

Carson Next to StationsFor your convenience, Bark Park at Synder Park in Fort Lauderdale has many "Clean Up" and "Bath" Stations located through out the park. Which makes life easier when it comes time to 'clean up' after your pooch!

Also please note the Soda Vending machine in the photo. This is for us, the human beings, in case we get thirsty while watching our dogs play. The Bark Park people thought of everything!

Come visit Bark Park today! Your dog will love you even more!

Fort Lauderdale is one of the greatest places in the workd to live if you have a dog. It has great dog parks that you and your pooch will love and enjoy ALL YEAR LONG because of the incredible weather!!

Other fantastic DOG PARKS in the area are: Canine Beach (YES on the beach!!!), Dog Walking on A1A, and Riverwalk Linear Park.

One more reason to move to Fort Lauderdale.

So what are your waiting for? Move to Fort Lauderdale!

Today I want to discuss the beauty of walking and the fact that I love having Las Olas Boulevard to walk to!

I moved to Fort Lauderdale from Manhattan and one of the only things I miss is the walking. You see in New York I didn't owe a car. If I wanted to go anywhere I would have to take a cab, a subway, a bus, or, as I did most of the time, just plain walk. Walking was an everyday part of my life.

Florida, like most places, is all about driving. Thankfully I live near Downtown Fort Lauderdale. I love that I can WALK to places and NOT have to drive everyplace I go! Living and working near Downtown Fort Lauderdale is great! I can walk to the Riverfront, Himmarshee and Las Olas Blvd, meet friends, grab a bite to eat or just window shop. Both Himmarshee and Las Olas have many delicious and fun restaurants to go to. For the shoppers out there, the place to go is Las Olas where there are many boutiques and art dealers to choose from.

I love that I can walk to it all. That IS the beauty of living in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. I never have to worry about driving home if I don't want to. Not that I have a drinking problem but the thought of having one cocktail and getting behind the wheel frightens me. Driving 'under the influence' is NOT on my to do list. Instead of taking any chances, I can walk home, hail a cab or take a water taxi! There is a lot going on Downtown. There is a lot of fun places to go to. It has a vibe all it's own and I love being near it!

Fabulous buildings walking distance to Las Olas Blvd are:

350 Las Olas Place

Las Olas Grand

Las Olas Riverhouse

NuRiver Landing

Symphony

Watergarden

Waverly

Venezia

PS: Two of my MANY favorite new places on Las Olas are Yolo and Mancini's restaurants. Go check them out! ORif going to Himmarshee, go check out Himmarshee Restaurant....delicious!

I love Fort Lauderdale. Every day I wake up and I have to pinch myself because I can't believe how lucky I am to live here. The weather...perfect. The homes...gorgeous. The people...friendly. The restaurants...delicious. The shopping...too many not to go broke. The beaches...clean and beautiful. The Intracoastal waterway, the palm trees, the canals, the New River, Las Olas Blvd...this IS paradise. Pinch. Pinch.

I wanted to blog about my personal joy of having lived in NuRiver Landing Condominium. The building has a unique combination of amenities, people and location.

NuRiver Landing's staff is helpful and friendly. It has a two story fitness center equipped with an aerobics studio, 1/2 basketball court, racquetball court, cardiovascular machines, strength training machines and free weights. The building also has a meditation garden, a hot tub, a massage room, a business center with boardroom and high-speed internet access, his & hers locker rooms with saunas and steam rooms, a party room with a wet bar and flat screen TV and finally a panoramic pool on the rooftop that is second to none!

NuRiver Landing is a beautiful building. There is the brick paved driveway with fountains that are manicured and lined with palm trees. There is a great park directly next to NuRiver Landing overlooking the New River. It has benches to relax on after walking around where you can sit, relax and watch the yachts go by. The Park also extremely dog friendly. It has 'doggie' stations to pick up after your pooch and help keep the park clean. The building itself is immaculate and safe.

Also worth mentioning is the social climate of the building. When I first moved to NuRiver Landing I didn't know anyone but my dog Carson (an adorable little beagle.) Today I can honestly say that I have met and befriended many wonderful people. I'm not sure why everyone is so friendly, but I have a hunch that it's because the building is just so darn pretty and easy to live in!

Aside from the wonderful people and friendly staff, NuRiver Landing also has a fantastic location. NuRiver Landing is located in the heart of downtown and just a short walk to Las Olas Blvd. NuRiver Landing is steps from Fort Lauderdale's finest restaurants and shops. Within minutes you can walk, get a cup of coffee, get a bite to eat, purchase designer jeans or have a night out on the town without ever getting into a car. Other great nearby places like Himmarshee Village, Broward Center for Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, Museum of Discovery & Science and the Las Olas Riverfront Shops are a stones throw away. NuRiver Landing's location also allows the opportunity to enjoy great downtown festivites like the Jazz Festival on the Riverwalk, the Las Olas Art Fairs, Christmas on Las Olas and the Boat Parade!

Again, I say, what's NOT to love!? Come see for yourself!!!
