...says the Montana mountain town Bozeman is a best city in the US for the adventurer to start a family: National Geographic rates Bozeman, Montana in the top three of its United States Adventurer Cities.
In the October 2009 National Geographic issue, which came out the week of September 13, 2009, the magazine mentions Bozeman's biking and hiking trail system; its proximity to Bridger Bowl and Big Sky snowboard and ski resorts; the Bridger, Gallatin, Beartooth, and Madison Ranges; and Yellowstone Park, the 2.2-million-acre National Park Ulysses S. Grant created in 1872.

Bozeman, Montana's Morning Star Elementary School, the Bozeman School District's largest elementary school, is one of the 2009 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Morning Star Elementary, named for Cheyenne Indian Chief, Morning Star, who would often awaken early in the morning to view the planet Venus, was chosen as one of the top elementary schools in the United States because it helps Bozeman students close the "achievement gap," "the difference in academic performance between different ethnic groups," according to the U.S. Department of Education's definition.
Arne Duncan, U.S. Education Secretary, announced 314 schools have won the Blue Ribbon award, which includes 50 private schools and 264 public schools. Central School in Roundup, MT also was chosen. DRINKING HORSE MOUNTAIN
The Drinking Horse Mountain Trail is a new Bozeman hiking gem not just because it makes for a short, vigorous 1.6 mile (3.2 mile rt) early-morning or after-work hike but also because of the spectacular views along the way and from its summit.
Walk along the excellent, recently carved and compacted limestone hiking trail from about 4902 ft to the 5,522 ft Drinking Horse Mountain Summit for views of the Absarokas and many of the Gallatin Valley's mountain ranges.
The Drinking Horse Mountain Trail, north of Bozeman, MT, is great for kids because they can make the hike short by stopping to splash in Bridger Creek under the shade of mature Cottonwoods, or they can head for the top, stopping along the way to rest on one of the many memorial benches manufactored from recycled plastic.
The Drinking Horse Mountain Trail is a great example of a federal, state, local, and private conservation collaboration, joining the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; Gallatin Valley Land Trust; Montana Outdoor Science School; Bozeman Fish Technology Center; and Friends of the Bozeman, Montana Fish Technology Center together to preserve more of Montana's Gallatin Valley land for future generations.
Drinking Horse Mountain Trail Directions: From Main Street, Bozeman, take Rouse, which becomes Bridger Canyon Drive (Highway 86), 3 miles to a right (S) at the Fish Hatchery turnoff just before the "M" Trail turnoff. (NOT Fish Hatchery Rd, though...you've gone too far.) (Sorry, no bikes or horses allowed and don't forget the camera, water, coat, sunscreen, and snacks...and stay off the summit during lightning.)

The 13,400 acre, private golf and ski enclave, Yellowstone Club (YC) sale to CrossHarbor Capital is finalized at a price of $115 million, according to Yellowstone Mountain Club's CB Richard Ellis. The Big Sky, Montana bankruptcy sale was finalized August 5, 2009, ending a long battle for control between Sam Byrne and Edra Blixseth.

We recently had a major move out of the Bozeman area to north western Washington State. My husband took a position with a company there and had to leave immediately. I was a bit concerned about being left with a 2yr old and trying to get my house sold quickly so that we could all be together. I interviewed several agents that seemed relatively competent but they all had to get back with me, check on prices and think about how best to market the house. There also seemed to be the gloomy warning of slowing house sales at this time of the year (late September).
When Taunya showed up I knew immediately that she would be the agent for us. She came with comparable market value comps in hand, she had her camera ready to take pictures and list that day, she had a marketing plan that included internet, newspaper, and television ads, at no additional charge to her standard commission. I was so impressed I agreed to sign with her on the spot. She was very helpful in coming up with a fair price that would have our house sold quickly but still assure us a great profit.
Taunya began work immediately and kept her word and all her promises for her advertising package. She then wasted no time in setting up an open house only days after the listing was posted and did not one, but two full days in a row, on the first weekend of the listing. Both days went very well, but at the end of the second day as she was packing up to leave a single man drove up on his motorcycle and asked if she would show him around. Even though she was ready to go, Taunya cheerfully agreed. He seemed like an unlikely buyer for such a large family home, and she had been told by many a nay sayer that "no one every sells houses to buyers at open houses." He bought it!
Taunya spent her time making sure that we were set up with an agent in our new home and even followed up with finding a fantastic lender who worked extremely hard to make our experience buying our new home here as easy as possible. We cannot say enough about the integrity and professionalism that Taunya displayed in a world where you don't often see that kind of work ethic anymore. We truly felt blessed! We would urge anyone in the Bozeman area to use Taunya as their agent if they truly want the best. And we wish her continued success and prosperity in the future.
