The City of Westminster and the Main Street Committee of GWDC will be hosting the Miracle on Main Street Event on Saturday, November 28ty, 2009. The Holiday Electric Parade will start at 5pm and proceed down Main Street to Locust Lane for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and presentation of the Mayor's Cup. The City of Westminster Parks and Recreation Department will then host Santa's Treat, a party for children with rides, games, prizes and a vist from Santa.
Each float entry must have at least 2000+ lights and promote holidays, business, or open ended. There are currently 51 float entries. Disney look out, the City of Westminster is hoping that this electric parade will bring the young and old alike to the city for an enjoyable evening of fun for all.
The day's events are to increase and expose citizens to economic development in the Westminster Area. It is also to provide an event geared towards families having fun and spending the afternoon and evening together in Westminster. Mayor Kevin Utz recently stated "That Miracle on Main Street should be a day of family fun. In these economically challenging times, we are tying to create a bright holiday of families together and promote shopping in the Westminster City area.
Eileen Gist remarked, "The parade has a heart beat. It is a community event where organizations, businesses and individuals are coming together to create a sense of community".

Kevin's Story
From the age of 10, Kevin Utz just knew that when he grew up, he wanted to be a firefighter. He would listen to the police scanner and fire department radio for hours or hear the scream of sirens close by and vowed to be a hero to his community-much like other local police officers and firefighters. These may have been some great expectations for a youngster, but Kevin continued to work hard and stay true to his goal. For this volunteer firefighter (who served as department chief) and successful businessman, the payoff has been far greater than he could have ever imagined.
Growing up in Carroll County, Kevin learned to appreciate what it means to expect more out of life. His own hardworking parents, who are both pillars in the community, inspired Kevin to set the bar high when it came to pursuing any goal-be it for himself, his family or his community. He accomplished much more than he ever expected as a 28-year veteran of the Maryland State Police Department, as well as chief of the Westminster Volunteer Fire Department and city councilman. Passing along the same values of honesty, hard work and diligence to his two daughters, Jenni and Julie, has cemented this father-daughter bond as well as created a highly successful business partnership.
Jenni' Story
Jenni grew up playing sports from a young age with her sister, Julie. For her it started as the pitcher of a traveling softball team. With her family in the crowd cheering her on, Jenni was the star pitcher for her team and followed up in high school playing field hockey. A highly motivated individual, Jenni attended Western Maryland College where she became an active member of Phi Sigma Sigma and gained a liberal arts degree in business and economics. After college, this driven businesswoman worked for a residential mortgage firm. With Jenni's unique background, she has earned the confidence and professional standards for proven success.
