You Can't Keep a Good Man Down

Texas Motor Speedway as viewed from suite windowLots of things inspire us. Take, for example, this transport chopper that showed up during the opening ceremony on Sunday out at Texas Motor Speedway. The crowd was elated when it landed and a pace car came driving out of its cargo area. It was not only exciting but it brought with it a certain sense of pride for our country.

I was one of the many Jimmie Johnson fans that came out to see the points leader get one race closer to his fourth championship and setting a Nascar record along the way. You can imagine the disappointment when Jimmie was taken out of the race in the third lap. I didn't even get a picture of him from the suites as I had been anticipating to do for a couple of weeks before the race. Right away, Chad Knaus, the team's crew chief and the other members of the team set about rebuilding and restoring the 48 car.

After only a little more than hour here came the 48 car roaring back out to the track being driven by the champion. Jimmie didn't let his fans down. He raced under the unfavorable circumstances all the way to the end. Jimmie may have lost some points but he showed us all that you can't keep a good man down.

On a last note, I would like to express my gratitude for all of the veterans who have served our country and salute the armed forces who are serving today.

Fall Back Spring Forward

Do you find yourself saying over and over "fall back spring forward"? I must admit; I do even though I know it's fall and that time of the year.

When I go to reset my clock that simple saying grown so familiar to most of us pops up in my mind. I find myself repeating it as I walk through my home resetting all the clocks. Today is not only the day to remember to fall back but it's also Halloween. So treat yourself to an extra hour today or else you could feel tricked in the morning.
