Madison CT and Connecticut Shoreline attract International Attention

Tom Burland www.Ct-Shore-Homes.com

Over the course of the last several months my partner JoAnn Stirling and I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with several international families looking to make the Madison area home. We have been successful in working with them from home search to home purchase and it has been made much easier through our use of technology.

Our most recent experience was working wiith a family emigrating from Germany and they bought along a film crew....VOX a TV station in Germany has a Docu-soap (reality show) "Goodbye Duetschland" http://www.eyeworks.tv/en/p46768f2d2413a documenting German families home search efforts in countries they are emigrating to. Eye Works and RTL (Production Companies) are filming families relocation efforts - including home search.

We spent the entire day with a lovely family and a great film crew

Here is JoAnn working with the film crew along Neck Rd in Madison.

I absolutly admire our international clients who are undertaking this great adventure, not only looking for a new home and community but also taking a tremendous leap of faith in going to an entirely new country with a different culture and language.

It takes a fair amount of flexibility, sense of humor, diligence, faith and trust on both the clients part and agents part. Thankfully we have worked with great families, got them located in a home that works for them and have absolutely enjoyed the experience.

Chatfield Hollow State Park Killingworth CT

Chatfield Hollow State Park should be a desitnation for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. This 355 acre park located on RT 80 in Killingworth on the Madison Boarder has a diverse terrain with flat walking trails as well as steep and rocky ones, large picnic areas as well as a lake for swiimming and fishing.

I happened to stop by today after the recent snow fall to shoot some of the scenery. There were plenty of hikers as well as cross country skiiers enjoying the day.

It is only minutes from Interestate 95, and very convienient to residents of Killingworth, Madison, Westbrook, Clinton, Haddam and Guilford. If you live in the area it is a place to visit for a couple of hours or the whole day

Here are some pictures from the walk.

Coffee Break in Clinton CT 27 East Main St in Clinton

Tom Burland www.Ct-Shore-Homes.com

One of the things people familiar with small towns across the country look for are comfortable family restaurants. The Coffee Break in Clinton Ct is Comfort Food Headquarters. You will feel right at home as you walk in and look around. You will see tables with mugs of coffee, stacks of pancakes, sausage and bacon....you know there is a cardiologist somewhere near buy with a hat over his eys and a fork full of homemade waffles in their mouth.

I always love when I am working with someone who is buying a house and wants to look at homes for sale in Clinton. I make sure I am out the door early enough to swing by the Coffee Break and grab a quick bite to eat.

Some of my favorites are a short stack of pancakes dripping with syrup or a couple of eggs over with homefries toast and a couple of cups of coffee. They will offer fresh fruit as a substitute for homefries but my opinion is I'm getting a serving of fruit with the catsup's on my home fries....or are tomatoes really a vegetable (I get confused on that one.)

When driving through Clinton CT make sure you stop at the Coffee Shop...they serve more than just breakfast as well...but as my son says "Its breakfast time somewhere in the world" ... his favorite is "Briner...breakfast for diner"

Connecticut Shoreline residents are extremely socially conscious, supporting numerous great causes every month. One event brings out the hardy and heartiest souls.....the annual Penguin Plunge.

The plunge is celebrating its 19th year and has moved this year to Hammonasset State Park in Madison. All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. It has grown over the years starting out with 50 penguins at the Madison Surf club with over 200 participants in last year's event.

Speaking as a Alumni Penguin, it is a fun event that warms your heart.
