It's that time again! Vera Bradley presents the 7th Annual Seaside Half Marathon & 5K Run set for Sunday, March 1, 2009.
This will be my second's Half Marathon and if I can do it- ANYONE can do it!
Last year's race attracted more than 2800 runners from all over the United States. Fast becoming one of the regions premier events, the Seaside Half Marathon & 5K Run will be better than ever.
This year, ALL race finishers will receive a Vera Bradley tote bag. Vera Bradley is this year's presenting sponsor and we are excited to have her join us again.
Race results will be chip time instead of gun time. The DAG chip system is the latest and greatest in accurate timing equipment for races. It has been thoroughly tested and used in many of the top races throughout the country. The backup systems ensure that no racer is left out of the results.
To help make parking easier, this year we will be providing shuttles. Shuttle location and details will be sent as we get closer to race day.
Like every year, there will be music, entertainment, awards, complimentary food and beverage, and a runner's expo including packet pickup and a free t-shirt. The night before the big race, join us for a delicious pasta dinner including music with wine and beer available. Only 300 meals will be guaranteed so reserve your spot now if you haven't already! Reservations for dinner can be made separately or at the time of race registration.
Please visit www.seasidehalfmarathon.com for more information and updates on the upcoming race, along with photos and comments from last year's race.
All proceeds from the race benefit the Seaside Neighborhood School and will be used to support the school programs including art, music, athletics, technology, and other electives. The Seaside Neighborhood School could not operate without the race's support.

Panama City, FL.- A wise man once said of the Hathaway Bridge that separates Panama City from Panama City Beach: "It's just a bridge. Get over it!"
Well, now tourists, visitors, and residents in Panama City Beach no longer have to get over it.
In partnership with the St. Andrew Bay Ferry, the Panama City Downtown Improvement Board is offering a new way to experience Historic Downtown. With several ferry pick up locations in Grand Lagoon, the St. Andrews Bay Ferry brings visitors Downtown with no worries over parking, driving directions, or whether or not to have wine with dinner.
"We have ferries running all day for St. Andrews Mardi Gras," said Hal Lacey of the St. Andrew Bay Ferry. "Then we'll start bringing guests Downtown for Friday Fest on March 6. Shopping tours are being planned for Saturdays, and we'll make stops at Bayou Joe's in Massalina Bayou and at the Panama City Marina Downtown."
"We're excited to have the opportunity to show off for tourists, and for locals who don't know that much about us," Deborah Jones, Main Street Coordinator, said. "Visitors can explore our Historic Walking Tour, visit the Visual Arts Center exhibits, shop in our unique stores and take a break at our sidewalk cafes. Downtown Panama City is a historic community focused on the arts, and makes for a great day trip for locals and visitors alike."
Downtown merchants will stay open late during Friday Fest, as well as offering promotions and hospitality Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm.
For more information, call the Downtown Improvement Board at 850-785-2554 or visit the Panama City Downtown Improvement Board online at www.pcdib.com. For additional information on the St. Andrew Bay Ferry, call Hall Lacey at 867-1563 or visit www.sabferry.com.
