Thoughts for Today

In keeping with my new attempt to strengthen my attitude I have spent some time looking at motivational quotes. I came across this one from Henry David Thoreau:"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." This is a good one for me, it tells me that I need to plan and to work to making the dream (plan) come true.

In this business if you don't have a dream and work confidently towards it, you will never accomplish them. I am not saying that dreams need to be unrealistic, yet they do have a place in our lives. Realistic dreams followed by work to make them come true is what success is made of. As the weekend approaches, have a great rest of the week, and dream big, realistic dreams!

Thought For Wednesday..............

I got thinking that it has been several weeks since I wrote a thought blog, so here goes. Todays thought comes from Will Rogers, it says: "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there!" This is a great quote for me, I tend to let myself become lazy and need to be reminded that I need to get out and take some action.

Several years ago I worked in a truck shop with a mechanic that used to end breaks by saying, "better go and do something, even if it's wrong." I don't know how I am going to make this match the Will Rogers quote other than by saying there is a level of success that is achieved by action. Obviously, action combined with doing the right things will ultimately lead to success more quickly than just doing something even if it is wrong. I do think that getting into the habbit of taking action over not acting on something will develope positive traits and work habbits that will lead to success.

I don't know how many of you have already scrapped you New Year's Resolutions, but it may be a good time to act on them. Give them 3 weeks of actively pursuing them, if they aren't going to work, make new goals that align with what it is that you want to accomplish, by doing something, you will at least know whether or not something will work. Have a Great Week!

Market Conditions in Cedar City

Hello again, well we have almost gotten dug out from the latest storm to hit here. Nice to have the moisture could have done without the wind, but it does mean great snow for winter recreation! We are supposed to have some more later tonight, with smaller totals as storms that are smaller come through. That usually means that when the weathermen say this, we get dumped on! Like I mentioned earlier, we could always use the moisture, anyway back to Real Estate.

The market is doing well, we have had some great starter homes come on the market in the past couple of days. Great locations and prices! We still have some great move up and executive homes on the market as well as the starter homes. Don't let the snow scare you! Things will start to warm up in the next couple of weeks. Springtime here in Cedar City is really gorgeous! Call the C Team for any of your Real Estate needs!

Virtual Tours and Safety

I have talked to several Realtors and read a few blogs about their concerns for the the homeowners protection doing a Virtual Tour. I am saddened by the need for these concerns, it speaks poorly of our society. I am also saddened because I believe that Virtual Tours are a great marketing tool. In many cases, they help draw interest in a listing. I wonder if we, as the listing agents, are doing our clients right by not teaching them to protect themselves.

I think that we do our clients a disservice when we don't teach them to put all valuables away in a safe storage facility. I know that can become inconvenient, but we're not Homeland Security, we only can qualify them to buy the property, not do a criminal background. It is in the clients interest to protect themselves as best they can. I think that it is prudent to advise them when a Virtual Tour is being shot, they need to "depersonalize," and part of that, put away your valuables, as well as photographs that someone could use to harm members of their families.

It is sad that we have to do this, but we are the professional, we need to teach our clients to be safe. I really do believe that Virtual Tours and lots of photograpsh are essential in the sales process of properties, especially with the use of the Inernet. I also believe that we get paid to educate and protect our clients.

Cedar City Real Estate

Great news! Governor Huntsman in his State of the State address mentioned that the economy in Utah is flourishing! This comes from a Governor that was a businessman prior to becoming a politician! That is good news!

We are turning the corner on Winter and heading towards Spring, which always makes me feel good. The annual rebirth of life in all of it's miraculous splendor, reminds me of my place in the world. That being said, there is still a lot of snow available for Winter fun, whether it is skiing, snowmobiling or just viewing! We generally receive a lot of "late season" snowfall in the mountains, so those activities could go on for months yet.

We are still a little cold, but that is to be expected in January at our elevation 5300 feet above sea level, and our geographic location. There have been some great new listings come on to the market within the past few days, and the inventory is still good. The interest rate reductions have helped lower the rates back to near historic lows, so what are you waiting for? Get in and find your dream house while the gettin' is good and there are a lot of choices! There are also some great investment vehicles such as apartments if that is your niche. Darcy and I would love to earn your business, by taking as much of the hassle out of your purchase or sale as possible!

Come up and see us, if you can't, check out our web site and let us send you more information about any listing that you find on it! Have a great rest of the week!
