STARTING OUT - After 33 years in the accounting field (I would prefer being in foreign service), I decided to retire only to find myself looking for something to do and found real estate would give me the challenges I needed.

After obtaining my real estate license, I joined Daniel Gale Sotheby Real Estate and was assigned at their Glen Cove/Sea Cliff office, about 8 miles from my house. I spent two years there before I decided to join Century 21-Laffey Associates at their East Norwich office which is 2 miles from where I live in Oyster Bay. I have been with Century 21-Laffey Associates since 2002.

On Sept. 24, 2010, Laffey announced they are leaving Century 21 and becoming a member of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the world which ranks #1 in real estate transactions in the United States in 2009.

I have lived in the Oyster Bay area for 39 years, 6 years in Muttontown and the rest in Oyster Bay. Being an active volunteer at several community organizations, I am extremely knowledgeable of the area. I know the ins and outs of Oyster Bay-East Norwich area, its history, places of interest and plenty of residents who I came in contact thru various functions I attended in the community.

Certifications and Recognitions

I know knowledge, training and technology are very important in real estate business so I keep up with my real estate education by reading real estate books and magazines and taking classes. I obtained several designation by taking these classes.

CBR - Certified Buyer's Representative - 2004 - Just like the seller has a seller's agent, a buyer should be represented by a buyer's agent to look after their interest.

Licensed Associate Broker - 2005 - I am proud to obtain my broker's license because it gave me double the knowledge of just being a Licensed Salesperson. I learned all aspects of real estate business from listing, selling and running an office. Of course, my experience while working in the corporate world has prepared me tremendously.

SRES - 2007 - I also have the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation where I took courses to know all the issues affecting the senior clients - the 55 and over years old.

e-PRO - 2008 - a designation few real estate practitioners possess and which is essential in this changing market where technology and internet presence is of paramount importance to market properties.

LHM - 2008 - I am also a graduate of The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing where I took classes to know how to market luxury home properties.

I keep myself abreast of all the changes in the real estate industry so I can help my clients with all the issues relating to the sale or purchase of their homes. When I am not busy with my real estate practice, I love to read, wirte gardening articles and work in my garden. I have been growing roses for the last 39 years, am an accredited Master Rosarian of the American Rose Society. I'm known in my area as "The Rose Lady."

I do tremendous amount of volunteer work in my community.

I recently purchased a house in East Norwich, New York. I initially became aware of the listing on Long Island Multiple Listing Service (www.mlsli.com). The Virtual Tour of this house was professionally done and it attracted me to the open house where I met Rosalinda or Linda, as she prefers to be called. Linda took my wife and I through the house and we were immediately impressed with her enthusiasm and energy. Linda gave us a brief history of the development, the neighborhood and the house itself. We briefly discussed the asking price, how long the house had been on the market and what the sellers might be willing to accept. I declined making an offer, indicating that it was out of our price range.

On Wednesday evening the following week I received a call from Linda to ask "what's going on?" Again I told her that the house was too expensive, but she persuaded us to take another look and attend the next open house that coming weekend. We did, and consequently made an offer on the house. Negotiations continued through Tuesday evening, and my final offer was accepted that night.

The bottom line: Linda did a great job representing her client, the seller. She was personable and persistent, not pushy or overbearing. I seriously doubt I would have bought that house, had she not called me that Wednesday night. I am a salesman and I would not hesitate to have her represent me when we sell our house.
