Southern New Jersey, more commonly called "South Jersey", has it's own distinct mind-set and culture from that of the rest of New Jersey. (See: "North vs South - New Jersey Style.") They even talk differently. (See: ""Survivor's Guide to New Jersey Speak".) South Jersey is a great place to live, work, play and raise a family.
Whether you prefer an urban, suburban or country
environment to live, it's all here. And depending on where you live, you are
usually no more than 30 minutes to an hour away from
vast pristine wilderness areas, popular
shore destinations and
relaxing beaches, or the culturally rich greater metropolitan
Philadelphia area, allowing you access to major sporting events,
entertainment,
arts,
music,
museums,
aquariums,
historical sites and more!. And within another hour or two you can be in
New York City. South Jersey and the greater
Delaware Valley area is a center for local and nationally known shopping
outlets. malls and great bargains.
Our family friendly local communities provide excellent school systems, including support services for special needs children, and extensive school, regional and community recreational and athletic programs for all sports and at all levels of competition. (We even have the only sanctioned professional weekly rodeo east of the Mississippi.) It's all within easy reach from any point where you will be living in South Jersey while stationed at McGuire Air Force Base (AFB). The areas surrounding the military bases of McGuire AFB and Fort Dix and the Lakehurst NAES offer a variety of styles and prices in housing. When looking at the year-to-month (using the most recently completed month of January) actual statistics, by year, for Mercer County, the results, by year, for residential homes on the market, sold, average price and days for sale before close is charted as follows:

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), sponsors a FREE income tax counseling service for taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
Trained counselors will be in Vaughan Hall on Medford Lakes-Tabernacle Road at Powhatan Trail, in Medford Lakes every Tuesday morning from February 5, 2008 through April 15, 2008, 9:00AM until noon, to assist taxpayers.
Appointments are not necessary.
Counselors can prepare noncomplex federal and New Jersey income tax returns, prepare New Jersey real estate tax rebate forms for 2007, review returns prepared by taxpayers, or consult on specific questions which taxpayers may have.
Certain counselors can prepare federal and New Jersey income tax returns by computer and file them electronically at no cost.
