When I was finished posting my blog about the holiday events scheduled at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda I thought to myself; I would like to go! I only live 5 minutes from the library and my husband was home and he had never attended. I thought what a nice little adventure for us to go on to celebrate Presidents day...and it was FREE!
The place was packed! The were war protesters and Bush haters out in front and the parking was a challenge but it was all worth it when we stepped inside the foyer and walked across the presidential seal in the floor. All on my memories form 12 years ago rushed back. This was the area where Nixon's casket was when we attended the public viewing.
We walked though the very well arranged Museum. The Docents were very happy to tell us their favorite stories of the archives and special items that were on display. We even heard a story about the phone President Nixon used to call the astronauts while they were in space. It was a very educating and enjoyable tour.
As we walked through the garden to the East Room we realized that we were a little too late to get a seat for the special presentation by "George Washington" &"Abraham Lincoln". I was able to stand a while and listen to a few questions from school childeren to President Lincoln.

There was truly a "grand opening" in 1990 which was attended by President Richard Nixon, George W. Bush I, Ronald Regan, Gerald Ford and Their First Ladies. You can stroll through the First Ladies Garden, be in awe at the restored 1910's restored home and birthplace and then have a moment of reflection at President Nixon's Memorial.
I have my own special memory of visiting the Library By Tina Maraj Shah
On April 22, 1994 I heard of the passing of President Nixon. I was moved by his death. He was the president in office when I was born in 1970. When I found out that ther was going to be a public viewing at the library, just a few miles from my home my Father and I decided to attend. It was raining and very cold for an April evening. We began standing in line to pay our respects at around 11:00 P.M. It was a very patriotic evening for me. We stood all night long with over ten thousand other mourners in a line that was a few miles long.
It was an incredible site to finally walk through the lobby doors where Presidents Nixon's Casket was lying in state. I felt like a part of history. There were flower arrangements from dignitaries and world leaders. And lying among them was our 37th President on the United States. I later found that I was one of 22 thousand citizens that came to pay my respects. It was an experienc that I shared with my Father I will never forget.

Now that the FED have cut interest rates another 1/2 point we should eventually begin to see the reflection in mortgage rates. I have had several past clients call me to ask if it is a good time to refinance or to acquire a new home loan. I am telling everyone to KEEP CALLING YOUR LENDER!!!
The banks and lending institutions are trying to recuperate some of their losses during this time, but they will eventually have to lower the rates that they are offering to the consumer. Everyone wants to make money. Lenders are not going to tell you the borrower that "these home loans will be on sale this weekend" like Macy's does. Just keep checking with a Lender that you trust and soon they should offer you a great rate!
