A few months ago I posted this question to everyone and got many responses, most of which were that it shouldn't matter if the realtor was pregnant. If the realtor was good at her job, she should get the listings she was pitching to get. Well, of course that pregnant realtor was me and here's a diary of what happened. Keep in mind that my baby due date was December 6th, 2008.
November 25th - showed properties all morning and then in the afternoon, went on listing presentation
November 26th - showed properties an hour away to a buyer of mine.
December 1st - showed properties to the same buyer and wrote up an offer when we got back.
December 2nd - listed a property that I had been trying to get for the past couple months.
December 5th - Showed 10 properties to another buyer of mine (who freaked out a little when I honestly told her when my due date was) In the evening I went and listed the property that I had pitched for on November 25th.
December 6th (my due date) - Did two open houses and then showed a property afterwards.
December 7th - played with my 4 year old daughter outside and then went into labor at about 8:00 pm and husband and I went to hospital.
December 9th - our son was born at 12:16 a.m.!!
December 12th - released from hospital and went home. During the stay in the hospital, I answered phone calls to follow up on business and spent lots of time answering emails.
December 16th - showed a property to one of my buyers and wrote up an offer (took my newborn along with).
To sum the rest of the past 7 weeks up, I've showed more properties, closed on a few properties, written up some more offers, listed another property, and was agent of the month in November and December for the most dollars brought into the office those 2 months.
To those of you out there who answerd my question with "It shouldn't matter if you're pregnant" THANK YOU BECAUSE IT DIDN'T MATTER!
And to those who said they would think twice before hiring a realtor because she was pregant, SHAME ON YOU. Being a pregnant realtor is not different than being a not pregnant realtor...you get out what you put in.
And here's the wonderful little addition that makes it all worthwhile. Bryson Allyn Bann, born December 9th at 12:16 a.m. 7lbs 9oz and 21 inches long. Now 7 weeks old and adores his hard working mama!

I have clients who are in the planning stages for building their new house. I have helped them meet builders and look at various residential lots and wrote up an offer for them on a vacant lot. On our offer, we made sure to include that we wanted the property lines verified by the survey company. And it's a good thing we did!!
The buyers were at the lot today to observe where the builder had staked out for the house and driveway and the neighbor who has a house on the lot next door came out to tell them that the property line flags "could not possibly be right". Our lot line markers show that they have about 6 trees planted too far over and are on what is my buyers vacant lot.
Of course, these neighbors did not purchase their lot using a realtor or purchase it directly from the developer (who is a realtor). They purchased it privately from a seller who verbally told them "The Lot Lines are Right About Here"! So they went ahead and had the lawn and trees put in according to what they thought was their property. Needless to say, my buyers will have the survey on their side and are the rightful owners of this approximately 3ft strip of land. The next door neighbors will unfortuntely have to be told that their lines were misrepresented. What a shame and it could have been avoided!
My point is that even the smallest transaction can benefit from the knowledge and advice of a licensed realtor. Please buyers!! Protect yourself now and in the future by having an experienced realtor work with you on your next land purchase.
