CHANGE OF COMMAND - TINKER AFB, OK

Tinker AFB - (AWACS) 960th AACS Vikings has a new commander Lt. Col. Paul Oldham, there was a change of command ceremony on Feb. 12th, 2009. The 960th AACS was the first squadron to return to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom in March 2007. Lt. Col. Oldham directly supervised 340 personnel from U.S and Canadian Forces and the operations of six E-3 aircraft, valued at over $1.8 billion. As a reminder to potential first time home buyers, the stimulus bills passed in February 2009 allow first time home buyer a tax credit . Oklahoma City is a medium size city, a good place to live, and it is safe to raise children. Crime rates are below average for the city of this size. There are plenty of shopping malls, brick town with the water canals, many things to do and see, with lots of the big city conveniences. We have the best of both worlds. According to the last US Census Bureau, there were 506,132 people, 204,434 households, and 129,406 families residing in the city. The median income for a household in the city was $34,947, and the median income for a family was $42,689. The average home sale price in the Oklahoma City was $152,803. You can buy a decent home; with a monthly mortgage payments could possibly be as low as your rent. Oklahoma City weather is great. Receiving PCS orders to Tinker AFB, OK, and you’ve never been to this neck of the woods before, and would like to find out more about the area, the base, the housing, and good school systems to sign the kids up for school? Believe me I know how you feel; I was doing that for 20 years with my husband and the children before he retired from the Air Force. There are a lot of stresses involved when you are going PCS in the military, on top of all the military in/out processing and you also have to worry about all of the above. I can help easing some of your burden of housing and schooling for the children. Despite all the meltdown in the mortgages and housing industries, Oklahoma does not have a major affect from it. Houses are very affordable here; there is still plenty of money to borrow for mortgages. You can buy a decent house with a monthly payment for what you might be paying in rent. The advantage of it is that you can build equity in your own home when you pay on your mortgage, instead of building equity in your landlord’s mortgage.
