When choosing fabrics for a room in your home, you may have 6 or more patterns that you want to use. Be sure you use the same color palette and the patterns compliment each other, not compete. So run with your imagination and be creative.
When decorating a room can you really add bargain to quality pieces and it not look cheap? Of course you can! Maybe you found great accessories at your favorite flea market and you fell in love with them. When you decorate your space, it is like pulling together your favorite outfit. Pay attention to how you are using the space. How can you make it work? You may have a few quality pieces or maybe just one quality piece in your room, let's say your quality piece is the sofa. Bring in your bargain pieces, accessorize them in the right place and no one will be able to tell. Be creative.....
Working on a budget to furnish your family room, one key piece of furniture is "The Sofa" you do not want to cut cost on. It is the most important piece you will invest in, because it gets used everyday. You can tell between quality and cheap if you know what you are looking for. When you are shopping for your sofa, do your homework. Lift up the pillows and ask the sales person what the deck is made of (8 way hand tied) and is it hardwood construction? What are the cushions made of? Can you feel the frame as you rub your hands around the arms and base of sofa? NO matter how comfy it may sit, make sure you pay attention to how it is made. Remember when buying your sofa, test drive it. Lounge on the sofa in the store as if you are at home. You would not buy a new car without test driving it first. Don't make a bad investment.
Add decorative detail to your ceiling by painting or paneling it. If you decide to do both, you add a sense of warmth, depth and coziness to the space.
