Transform words that express heartfelt sentiments into decorative motifs for your table. Handwritten script has an inherently elegant appearance that makes it ideal for borders. And applied in golden brown or sepia to linens and goblets, it assumes a warm effect. Try books or online references for Thanksgiving quotations, or make up phrases of your own.
Have a beautiful Thanksgiving from my home to yours!
Home Redesign ~ Your bedroom, after all your bedroom should be your personal retreat.Home Redesign, don't let your bedroom be the last room in your house to decorate, after all your bedroom should be your personal retreat. I know we all seem to focus on the key rooms in our home, but don't neglect the most important room...your bedroom. In my next post I will talk about the importance of having the right mattress and how important sleep is to us all.
Where you should splurge on your home redesign...
• Fine bedding is the last thing you feel as you drift off and the first thing you're aware of as you awake. Don't settle for anything less than the absolute best you can afford.
• Original art is a worthwhile investment that injects a room with personality -- a key ingredient for truly successful design projects. Although you're likely to spend $200 and up for small oil paintings, there are other affordable options, like original prints, photography and watercolors. Attend local art fairs and annual exhibits of projects by fine arts students.
• Couture pillow fabrics transform even the most generic bedding into a custom-coordinated style statement. Source quality remnants from fabric retailers. For an 18-inch square pillow, you'll need only about three-quarters of a yard of fabric, so go ahead and treat yourself. • Quality upholstery is always a smart investment.
Where to save on your home redesign....
• Ready-made draperies offer considerable savings and work well for most relatively standard windows. Before shopping, take detailed measurements of the window and its exact location within the full wall.
• Affordable lamps are available at large retailers across Charlotte, North Carolina. TJ-Maxx, Marshells, Target, Home Goods, Pottery Barn and IKEA have excellent selections.
• A headboard frame you cover yourself -- in an affordable linen or cotton -- is a budget-friendly alternative to buying a handcrafted solid wood bed frame. You won't sacrifice an ounce of style, and you'll love it if you read in bed.
• Garage sale finds like side tables are instantly renewed with spray paint. Opt for fresh white to improve the style quotient. Add new hardware, and you'll save big without skimping on style.
• Accessories are readily available at any price point, so here's where you can be thrifty. Wait for sales, buy end-of-season remainders and source retailers.
Remember in any great home redesign, make your room reflect your style and personality.

This property is an occupied home staging project we did for a wonderful couple in Huntersville, NC. This property will be featured for sale in the New Year, when that time comes I will post some information regarding this property. Here are a few Staged before and after pictures of this property in Huntersville, NC. You must know this beautiful property sits on Lake Norman and has a breathtaking view of the lake from each room in the house. This homeowner had some wonderful items to work with in this home, and although it is a Staged property we knew the homeowners were going to continue to live in this home until they put it on the market. Therefore we de-cluttered the space, re-arranged furniture and accessories, also added a few new things. Here are just a few pictures of this staged home, we have tons more to post of other rooms in the house and hope to post them soon.
Home Staging Before and After pictures

Sorry, I do not have the before picture of this guest bathroom but just imagine nothing on the counters and no color in this space. We used some items the homeowner already had and brought in new green towels and the Bamboo containers on the counters.

OK, this piece of furniture was hidden in a guest bedroom, so we brought it out into the upstairs hallway that could display items for the guest bathroom and there was still tons of room in this hallway.

Choosing the right paint for your Home Redesign or Home Staging project is important depending on the purpose of the room you are applying the paint too. Are you looking for easy cleaning in the kids bathroom or maybe even yours for that matter? Could it be that you are wanting to highlight the beautiful crown moldings in your living or family room. When deciding upon your Redesign or Staging project, think about how the paint will perform. How it performs is based on the sheen or gloss. Flatter, low luster paints contain minerals roughen the surface and creating an even coat that hides flaws, while glossier paints have fewer materials and form a smoother, more durable finish but they show imperfections. What ever you decide make sure to choose the right gloss or sheen for your home improvement project.
Here are a few tips:
Ceiling-We know it is a great place to add color but also remember to use flat paints unless you are doing a faux finish. For flat paints hide imperfections and has an even tone that doesn't attract attention (unless you are creating a faux-finish) to add drama to the ceiling. The hard to clean sheen is perfect for ceilings, which can be prone to stains. Keep in mind, paints sold for ceilings have a purpose and are made extra flat to prevent distracting shiny spots.
Foyer-The place that welcomes your friends, family or guest into your home. I recommend eggshell in this space because it washable without being too glossy. Eggshell is the most popular sheen for walls, and it is my personal choice. It's great for high traffic areas and for stairways.
Trim-The jewelry of the room so I say, of course trim should be glossy. Glossy paint is a shiny paint and used for trim and built-ins also it can take a beating. Oil based gloss has a harder, more scrubble finish than any water based latex paint.
Bedroom-Our personal retreat, this room can be in either satin or matte. Both of these finishes resist burnishing, the shiny spots that happen if a surface is repeatedly rubbed or scrubbed over time and it's low gloss gives a beautiful warm glow.
Bathroom-My personal spa, or at least I like to think so...the experts say semi-gloss for this room because it is the traditional sheen for wet areas, it's the shiny surface is easy to clean. Also think about choosing one with mildewcide. I prefer a satin or eggshell in my bathroom but again this is a personal choice and I have explained why semi-gloss is chosen for this room.
Either way, if you are deciding upon a Home Redesign project or Staging your home to prepare it for the Real Estate market, think about the importance of paints you where you are using those beautiful colors that you have chosen for your home.
