Have you ever considered mother nature as your decorating resource? If not, why not? It's a great resource rather you are Staging, Home Redesign or Decorating your space. When you walk into a room does your eye draw to one side of the room? Most people really don't have a problem with color but with value the of a room. Value is the relative lightness or darkness of a color. Often you'll see a space that is not balanced in terms of value: one side of the room is too dark "weighty" or "heavy" versus the other side, which is light in value and tends to "float away" visually.
Now, take a moment and think about mother nature, when stepping outside pay attention to the colors and how everything works together. So when working with color in your home consider the value and choose darker values of color for the flooring (consider this to be the ground), medium values of color for the walls (consider this to be the mountains, landscape and trees) and light values of color for the ceiling (sky). If you divide your colors by value from dark to light as you decorate "vertically" in your room, you'll get an amazing room every time and will love the results. So when you get ready to decorate or add color to your room consider "Mother Nature" as a decorating resource.

The cool evenings of October and the divine color of mother nature, we live in a world so beautiful. An outdoor fireplace makes it comfortable to sit outside on cool fall evenings. Can you imagine entertaining in this space, creating memories, laughing and sharing stories with your family and friends. Bring October life to your outdoor fireplace and add touches of the season around the mantle and the hearth. Also add seasonal decor to the hearth and mantle of your fireplace with arrangements of pumpkins, candles, gourds and fall leaves.

Creating an outdoor room should be an impression of your style and your personality. Bring your indoors out and create a space that reflects the way you want to live. October is crisp days and cool nights, a time to curl up around the dancing flames of a sparkling fire and sink into a good book. Just imagine for a moment......Can you feel the warmth? Can you picture yourself unwinding by this fire?
Refreshing crisp fall evening, sun starting to set as you relax by the roaring fire of your new outdoor fireplace. Lounging back in your plush cozy chair, listening to the gentle flow as water cascades down the stones into the fountain. As you drift into total relaxation. You notice how the sunset seems to capture the fabulous red, orange and gold colors on your maple trees. No, you are not dreaming, this could be your outdoor living room. Turn your outdoor space into a room you want to relax and escape from your busy days.
Your personal retreat........
Now we all like color but have you really thought about how it works with your personality and how your name associates with your color? I found this quiz and information on House Beautiful and wanted to share with all of you. I have to say, I took this quiz and it fit me to the T.
What's in a name? Would you believe a color energy that's a clue to your personality? Maybe you don't. But some numerologists do, and they base their belief about the relationship between numbers, color, and the alphabet on the theories of Pythagoras, no less. Here's how it works: Take each letter in your name and find
its corresponding number in the guide at right. Add all the numbers, then reduce the total to a single digit.
EXAMPLE: Mimi Read 4+9+4+9+9+5+1+4 = 45. 4+5 = 9 = Gold.
Interior designer Ellen Kennon, a color expert with a spiritual bent, analyzes each color personality:
1. Red: The most dominant personality. A visionary and risk-taker: energetic, passionate, tenacious, flamboyant, and courageous.
2. Orange: Balanced both mentally and physically. Happy, loyal, takes each day as it comes.
3. Yellow: Cheerful, charming, magnetic, intelligent, confident, and creative. Somewhat psychic, and enigmatic. A good leader and negotiator.
4. Green: The perfect balance between the physical and mental. Grounded, logical, not easily influenced, rarely judgmental. An intensely loyal friend — and has lots of them.
5. Blue: Optimistic, empathetic, flexible, idealistic, tranquil, patient, devoted. A natural mother.
6. Indigo: A brilliant old soul who is intuitive, sensitive, impulsive, curious, and ambitious, with a great lust for life.
7. Violet: Also an old soul. Intense, cerebral, wise, loving, generous, sentimental, and artistic.
8. Rose: Main qualities are strength, love, and leadership. Turns visions into realities.
9. Gold: Radiates love, joy, compassion, and understanding.

The beautiful season of autumn, every decorators department store, what better way to spend time outdoors looking for wonderful surprises to decorate any room. There’s so much inspiration in the changing colors of nature, that it seems only natural to bring some of those changes inside. Autumn also brings to us the wonderful memories we had since childhood: Halloween carved jack-o-lantern, cool and chilly mornings, Friday night high school football games, traveling to the mountains to view the brilliant fall colors and stopping by your local farmers market or apple orchid for those crisp fall apples.

Autumn is many people’s favorite season, the perfect season to sit around an outdoor fireplace with your family and friends. Sure there's a chill in the air but just imagine sitting by this crackling fire among your friends or family laughing and sharing stories. Reacquaint ourselves with a good book and a cup of hot spiced cider as we nestle into our cozy throw by the roaring fire.

Rain showers come and go leaving the air crisp and clean. Autumn displays her earthy browns, brilliant reds, liquid amber and orange, pear gold and muted yellow. Bringing the feel of autumn into your home creates natural warmth and echoes the changing season. As with any seasonal theme, you can go the subtle route by switching out accents, adding a fall display and putting up an autumn wreath.

Capture the spirit of the season by adding spice, color, and warmth to your home. Whether you're decorating for fall with pumpkins and gourds, or adorning the sofa with soft, warm blankets, it's the small touches that go a long way when decorating for the autumn season. Harvest some supplies. If you grow gourds, pumpkins, apples or brightly colored berries, you can harvest them to provide components for centerpieces, garlands and porch decorations. If you do not have these items in your garden, you can always purchase them at the local garden store or even buy them from the grocery in many cases. Mother nature is our best friend for autumn decorating, so take a walk outdoors and you will be amazed at what you will find.

Simple and Crafty Ideas for Fall Decorating
There are so many quick and easy fall decorating ideas that can be done without spending a lot of money. Here are a few:

Create a simple display by filling a clear bowl or vase with pine-cones, nuts, gourds, acorns – or a selection of all of them. Leave them as is for a natural look, or spray-paint them all the same color for a unified loo k. Silver, for example, is a sophisticated and elegant color choice. The items say “autumn” while the color says “glamour”.

Make candleholders out of small gourds and mini pumpkins. Cut off the top of the gourd and scoop out the desired amount of the insides to make room for a small candle or tea light.

Turn a pumpkin into a cute fall flower vase by cutting out the core. Experiment with different types of flowers (they needn’t just be seasonal flowers).

Pick your favorite candy in autumn colors and place in glass jars to showcase on a table.

With one pillar candle elevated, others remain on the tabletop near glass votive holders, creating a glow of light for any autumn dinner. Airy stems fill twin pots embellished with tangerines, add a few fall leaves and nuts for color.

Heavier fabrics automatically make things cozier. Cotton flannel, ultra-suede, chenille, velvet and wool are all good options. When it comes to color think about autumn tones. Warm browns, oranges, reds and greens work nicely.
Also think about accessories. Accent pillows in fabrics like faux fur add a warm touch, as do cozy decorative throws. Toss one over the back of a chair or sofa. It’s practical and pretty!
