Scarves, Beanies & Rainbows!

It's been a little chilly in Southern California the past few days...and you know what that means?

Yup, possible rain, scarves, beanies and rainbows!!!

I was in my travels yesterday when I came across this beautiful rainbow coming out of Ontario and soaring into the California Skies!

It was photo worthy :)

When in Ontario, you may want to visit:

ONTARIO MILLS - A multitude of outlet stores, including Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch, Nordstrom Rack, Calvin Klein, Nike Factory Store, and many others!

CITIZENS BUSINESS BANK SPORTS ARENA - Home of hockey team, Ontario Reign... You can also see artists such as Sade, Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus and so much more! A great and newer venue!

and while you're at it....

If I can be of service for your local real estate needs, I'd be so happy to help!

Photography & EMOTION: The Ultimate Keys to Our Marketing Efforts!

This morning I attended the local Upland/Claremont Real Estate Professionals meeting. It was well attended with keynote speaker: Dave Keys, Professional Photographer and WEB Problem Solving Guru. (find him at www.Davekeys.com and he is happy to hear, ALSO an AR Member!!!)

Dave had some wonderful key points!!

I will share them with you, here:

1) EMOTION: The first and most important key to shooting great photos is to capture emotion. When you really think about it, isn't that what we're all trying to capture in our photos of our listings, etc.?

2) Techniques: Contrast and vanishing points...Dave discussed how it's important to include some 'frames of reference' in photos sometimes, such as a standard sized resin chair by the front door to help viewers of the photo to get a sense of "PROPORTION"...

3) Proportion & Persective: See above, as well as remember to keep things proportionately accurate looking and to scale, as well as keep it interesting to the eye..

4) Patterns & Lines: How important is it to keep the lines and patterns flowing in our photos of homes that we are marketing?

5) Negative & Positive Space: There may be negative space in a photo and that isn't always Negative! Dave explained that it helps our viewers balance the energy and keep their eyes attracted to what we're showing them...Nice point!

6) Golden Proportion: Dave showed us not only the rule of thirds, but also a grand formula that I wish I could show you a picture of it right here! See the diagram below. Dave explained that the focal point of how to capture a great photo, is to have the subject of interest (be it front door of the property, or the property location in the photo itself), be in the little square noted in this diagram where lines B,C,E and D intersect.

Also, If you can divide your photo into thirds, usually that makes it more interesting and appealing to the viewer's eyes.

As you can see by this diagram of the home, there is a focus on a specific architectural part of this home. Check it out!! (hope this helps)

Overall, I found this such a noteworthy and worthwhile topic! What do you think about it?

(after I got back to my office, I found this picture that I had taken as I was driving into the sunset, leaving PALM SPRINGS, and on my back to RANCHO CUCAMONGA.)

Thank You, Dave for coming to our meeting today and making us really think about such a great topic!!

Kudos to Kevin Cisneroz, of Inland Empire Escrow, for enlisting this informative and wonderful, articulate speaker to share some helpful photography pointers with our group this morning!
